then kessler would have looked really stupid had he refused to answer that question after he opened the can of worms by saying how bad the offer was.....

Sauerland presented Kessler with the options:

"You can fight Bute for this much, but since this is a ridiculous amount we do not want to go with this.

Or you can fight German-based Stieglitz for the WBO belt. We are German promoters and paid by German TV, so to us the Stieglitz fight would be far the most attractive."

    Kessler: "Ok, no problems."

It's not Bute words vs Kesslers Words but Ibox words vs Sauerland words!

In this case i believe IBOX , Sauerland words don't worth much imo

Mate, the thread was started with quotes from Kessler, saying how the offer was basically laughable, and how he wished it was as high as rumoured. So no, it isn't Sauerland v Interbox at all.

    MJK (page 7)

"After the Pavlik drama, Bédard said he offered more money to Pavlik than to Kessler."

I hope Bute never fight this guy (Kessler). He disrespect Lucian by putting the blame on him, when he is the one who prepared to fight a righty, before IBOX made the offer.

Do you really think that Kessler know everything about those numbers ? i really doubt it , he probably say what Sauerland tell him.

For Bute i know he doesn't say anything , he don't speak about it if he do he will say my works is to fight and i do what my team tell me to do!

That's without the Showtime money and the Danish TV rights. If we take only the guaranteed money offered to Kessler, you can say they offered more to Pavlik. That being said, Pavlik would have received nothing more, Kessler would have received a lot more.

Kessler is fighting Stieglitz for less money. It is a correct business decision. The only part I don't like is when he bitches Bute's camp. Sauerland had decided to fight Stieglitz way before receiving the offer from Interbox and I'm not sure he said the truth to Kessler about the real offer made by Interbox. The way Kessler talks of the offer (1 krone) doesn't fit with something that would total more than 1,5 millions, according to Arum's numbers.

so how much more value does kessler think this **** wbo strap will bring him? is that gonna magically go from a number that was laughable to one that he accepts? all because of a WBOgus strap? i doubt it...

This is a never ending story. Bute is fighting Johnson , Kessler is fighting Stieglitz so let's put all this dissensions behind and enjoy the fights. For now...

Offering the Danish tv-rights and taking the American and Canadian? What a great offer. Why would anybody refuse this. Especially since the fight would be on at 5 or 6 in the morning in Denmark... What was the cut of the gate btw?

Exactly my thought. I dont think because Kessler got a belt that Bute will put more people into seats. Will Showtime give more money if theirs two belts instead of one? Not in the contract that Bute have now.

But, maybe Kessler think that his chance to get the first shot at the S6 winner is better with the WBO strap, its the only thing that make sense to me. They loose to much money on Steiglitz to think they can make more money with Bute after and cover their loss.

I don't know about the ins and outs, mate but I do know that Kessler has a good reputation as one of boxing's good guys which, for my money at least, gives him some credibility in discussions such as these. I'm not saying that Bute's team is wrong, just saying Kessler is a credible source for me.

The attitude that you've described for Bute above of "shut up and fight" is admirable, and I'd love for some of these big fights to happen soon. Very frustrating!

It's a completely different thing. Kessler can fill his backyard, Pavlik cant. Pavlik thought that he could have money when the US tv contract is given to Bute not him. That by itself should give Pavlik the answer that if he cant attract enough to fill a venue and he doesnt bring money from tv he cannot ask for much money.

So I guess its why your right in saying that Kessler would have made more money even if the guaranty part of it is less than Pavlik.

Plus what people often forget is the numbers in the Pavlik contract was at the end of negociations, while Kessler numbers was at the begining of a negociation...
