Beating Miranda is an extraordinary accomplishment. A truly legendary feat. Ward, Dirrell, Kessler, Froch, Green, and Abraham should all retire, bow down, and observe greatness. They're not worthy.
That post was in response to paulfv's ridiculous claim. I have nothing against Bute, rate him #1 at the weight, and don't argue what you wrote.
Miranda is past his sell by date by some time...**** me, even the great Joey Vegas was competative with Edison for 5 rounds :-(
Hmm.. I never belived in Bute also.. well.. Hmmm.. I got the same feeling abouty Bute now like i got with Froch who also got some good wins..
In my view: 1. Andrade II 2. Andrade I 3. Berrio 4. Bika 5. Miranda 6. Joppy/Zuniga I counted both Andrade fights because Bute did very well to win both; just because he beat Andrade once didn't mean he'd beat him again... in fact, I thought Andrade was going to be the slight favourite in the rematch.
I agree with you man! Although Bute is clearly very talented, we can't judge him properly until he fights one of the best fighters in the division instead of B-level fighters that he is obviously better than. Unfortunately, the best fighters are in the super six.
Andrade and Bute should both have been in the Top 6 because they are both Top 6 fighters. Now, that they have the Super Seven, Bika should also have got a place instead of Green. "Super Six" has no credibility in establishing the best SMW with three of the best not invited. It's like Wimbledon without Federer/Nadal, Murray and Roddick...
I wouldn't say it has no credibility, but I understand where you are coming from. The good thing about the super six is that we get to see competitive fights every round of the tourney. If you don't think that's a good thing, then I am not sure what you want from boxing. Would the tournament have been better with Bute in it, most definitely - but lacking credibility, I think not!
That's BS...he doesn't make the Super Six irrelevant. What's true is that the Super Six winner has to fight Bute to decide who earns the crown in SMW division. It's a good win for Bute, but Miranda would've lost to any Super Six participant except Green also.
Agreed. In terms of finding the true #1 in the division yes the tournament can't do that BUT at least you see quality competitive fights each time instead of a great fighter fighting tune-up matches and such. People are already building up Bute and tearing down the super six fighters like they forced Bute not to join. Bute would have to fight some of these fighters to prove himself just like the super 6 winner would have to fight Bute to really stake their claim, but according to some of you people Bute knocking out Miranda proves he would steamroll the entire super 6....smhatsch
