He'll offer the winner a fight in Canada with him getting the bigger share and that's when negotiations end.

Wouldn't be surprised if he fought the loser first or Dirrell.

Your knowledge of the situation amazes me.

Aren't you aware that they are trying to make the fight at MSG, losing in the process at least a million dollars?

If Froch loses, his options are a rematch against Kessler in Denmark (where the money is) or a fight against Bute either where the money is (Quebec) or on neutral territory. Kessler holds all the cards over a Froch that just lost the final. Bute doesn't, but Bute is more of an incentive for Froch, imo, because it's a title shot against an unbeaten opponent. Also, it's more money for Froch in neutral territory against Bute than against Kessler.

So I would say Froch might be more tempted by a fight against Bute, if he loses.

I agree that Ward is unlikely to jump at the chance to fight Bute straight away if he wins the s6, but it's good to know that they're thinking about the summer option.:good

You said in your first answer that this is the most reasonable thread about Bute you saw... Just show me one other thread of any boxer that says:
    1- I'm a die hard fans of X fighter
2- I think he should get ****ed with the venue AND the money to make the fight happen

Just find one? Theirs nothing reasonable with that and everyone knows it. It just that we fans want the fight to happen and we hope that Bute and Interbox will do everything in their power to make that happen. And you say its reasonable? You should have said that "boxing fans that are not fans of Bute dont ask for that much".

I think Bute has another 7-8 fights in him at this level. (3-4 years). I am not sure when the contract with Interbox runs out, but I think it will be in less than that. Interbox need to let Bute fight the big fights now, or I think Bute will become more frustrated. No point in letting your golden goose just escape - might as well cook it instead.

Bute will not fight his mando next, except if everything else false through. He's quite happy to drop the belt - after all, he's bigger than the belt now.

No point in travelling to Nottingham or Oakland - there's no money in it, but if that's what it takes to fight the winner - sure!

Fighting Froch, were Froch to lose against Ward, in Nottingham doesn't make sense on any level, I think.

I think you're too pessimistic. Bute is a big money draw - the loser of s6 or Kessler are bound to be attracted sometime next year.

It's an impassioned plea. It's you Canadian boys making the excellent posts!

There's talk of Bute moving up to LHW "because he struggles making the weight at 168lbs". If they're using that as an excuse for not doing everything they can to fight the finalists of the s6/Kessler in 2012, I think they don't deserve fans as good as you, laffie...:good

Yeah, by all means explore all options and negotiate wisely to get the best deal, but the priorities for 2012 must be:

    1. winner of s6
    2. loser of s6/Kessler, preferably Kessler, if the loser of s6 is Froch

This is what Bute/Interbox have said they wanted for years now. So let's have it.

They are trying to make things happen in order to have more leverage in the USA. Here is the latest Interbox interview, translated for you in English. You may find it here also : http://www.rds.ca/boxe/chroniques/331288.html

The presentation of Bute's next fight in the United States has reached another step last weekend.

Interbox's President, Jean Bedard and coach Stephan Larouche, took the opportunity during the Cotto-Margarito World Championship fight last weekend to meet various boxing people in New York.

« We went to see how are the installations in Madison Square Garden in order to see how to organize a fight there, explained Bedard to RDS on Monday. « We think that we will be obliged to greatly involve ourselves in the promotion of such an event. We aren't expecting to receive any offers. »

The promoter is looking into the Wufu Theater which has a capacity of 5000 to 6000 people.

« It's a spot that would be much more viable financially for us, follows Bedard. « Many big fights have been presented there. We will have many more details if we go forward with this. »

Even if making a fight in New York would be much less profitable than Montreal or Quebec city, the Interbox President is convinced that it is something they ultimately don't have a choice but to do.

« It's a step backwards financially, concedes Bedard. But it can open up many doors for Lucian's career. We've already conquered the Canadian & Romanian markets. »

« And the boxers that we want to meet, don't necessarily want to come in Quebec. A neutral territory like New York may be the solution. »

Ideally, the promoter doesn't want to be the only one plunging in such an adventure. A collaboration with Top Rank is more than probable.

« They are the ones that invited us last weekend », says Bédard. « A gala featuring one of their boxers (in another fight) and Lucian could be successful. »

« We also know that our fans would only have 7 hours of travelling to do in order to see us. »

So far, Bute has always faced his mandatories. He has never asked for a derogatory. Interbox said they were confident to be able to obtain one, in the case Bute's next night wouldn't be a unification bout (which also push the mandatory defense further when it's accepted by the organization).

Like Decebal said, they absolutely have to make that fight (super 6 winner or loser). The cash they let on the table will be multiplied by 4 later on if Bute wins, and even if he loses.

If Froch loses, he'd have to wait a long time for a Kessler fight. Something like 9 months. In fact, he has time to face both Bute and Kessler next year. Bute would have time to face Froch and if he wins, Ward.

I do't think Ward will come to Quebec city though. I think it was one of Interbox plan. The way they talk now (promoting themselves in USA) makes me believe this plan is not alive anymore.

Bute is as loyal as they get.I don't see any chances of Bute changing the promotional team. The only thing I can see is ... maybe for some reason a co-promotion thing on Bute but I don't see him leaving Interbox.
