Bute is the best SMW that Ward hasn't already beaten. That means he deserves the fight IMO. Wards resume was worse than Bute's is when he fought Kessler. Ward fought Green and Bika. Did they earn it?
if the man says he's on a mission then that's what he's on. either way he's a great fighter, a legitimately great fighter after dominating that tournament thoroughly like he did
Are you kidding me? Are you telling me that Ward does not want to fight Bute because Bute isn't good enough? it sounds like one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's cheesiest lines in a movie. Like a twisted feeling of fake honnor. Get this: he guy will not fight because the bout is too easy for him. This is the most awkward mixture of arogance and fear put together in the same words. A lion lies in a safari. He's hungry. Suddenly, he sees a deer, a very helpless deer. He notices that the stupid deer is comming towards him. What does the lion do? He gets up and walks away. Why? Cause the deer isn't a challenge for him. - NOT OSCAR WINNER SCRIPT A lion lies on the ground in a safari. He's hungry. Suddenly, he sees a rhino, a very big and strong rhino, one that can really and I mean really hurt his ribs. What does the lion do? He ducks the rhino. Why? Because, despite of his natural born hunger, the lion does not want to risk his health at this moment. Anyway, his stomach is full after he'd eaten a zebra the day before. He hopes that some other lions will do that for him so that this rhino won't come back anytime soon and disturbe his sleep. This lion, the one with chicken wings, decides to forget about his words displayed in the first script, and eats a deer this time - ANIMAL PLANET REAL LIFE SCRIPT There is no such thing as unworthy opponents. The public and the media always dictates the right fight. The right fight is the one everybody wants to pay and see it. On the other hand, from the fighter's point of view, there is risky fights and wasy fights. Ward doesn't want the risky fight. I don't blame it, it's natural to not want to make two big fights in a row. I resent the fact that he consistently and conciously lies the public with his statements. Another thing: Ward - Bute is a risky fight for both boxers. I don't want to sound too pro-Bute, cause I'm not his no1 fan, but the guy cand fight himself. I'll pay to see a Bute vs Bute fight, but that aint gonna happen 'till the cloning is in the bussiness. Bute has a flawless record so far. Like in legal system, you have to prove he's no good, not viceversa. Bute wants to show us all what he's made of, he just needs an opponent.
Realistically, Ward/Bute probably is a year away. My guess is Ward will take 6-8 months to relax, then return late summer for a tune-up/mandatory. And take on his next serious opponent about this time next year. In the meantime, I think Bute/Dirrell is a fight that could be made. Bute needs exposure in the United States and needs a credible opponent, and the winner of that fight would give Ward the final line needed to claim true, total dominance over the division.
Reading recent news I hope that Froch-Bute happens, what a fight that would be!!! If Bute KO's Froch then the buzz going into a Ward clash will be huge, but if it's the other way round it would show what alot of people feel about Bute, not me though i think it's a 50/50 fight where whoever gets banged out first!!!
