Well, Pavliks style is similar in that they both lead with L hooks and follow them up with R hands. Theyre both straight forward, upright fighters. Both tend to headhunt, and both have solid chins, and yeah, Frochs is faar greater.

As for Bute beating Pavlik if he would strictly outbox him and circle him......well, same goes for Froch. And I think we're both hoping Lucian will do just that in March and let the KO come if it comes.

Be fair, DeGale has only had around 12/13 fights.
In that time he has defended his European title abroad, so I dont think there are issues

I think Bute has the tools of an elite fighter and the athletism you want in a fighter.
While i am a Froch fan and i wanted him to beat Bute, i was really surprised about easily Froch was able to batter Bute, Bute is definitely better than that..
Bute looked like a deer in the headlight in there and didn't look like he was ready for the challenge, he basicly threw everything that he does so well away and tucked into survival mode.

If i was team Bute i would put him in against an opponent like Karoly Balzay and then go for the winner of Abraham-Stieglitz ..
Both fights would be against solid opponents that could get Bute's confidence back.

Good post. I totally agree. Bute forgot he was there to fight and not make friends. I think his last few bouts, fighting guys he is very freindly with really got him thinking he was some kindof boxing good guy. Not the best frame of mind to get into a ring with a guy on the brink who's only in there to prove to the world he's still one of the greatest.

I'd like to see Bute take the route you suggest, but that would only further lead to accusations of hiding. Bute is gonna face his nemesis and take Froch in March, win lose or get KTFO again. My guess is he remembers he's a fighter and outboxes Froch before stopping him late.

Bute has the tools to be elite but he doesn't have the trainers or the management to make him elite ..Sure they will make him a boatload of money but they needed him to have stepped up long before he faced Froch ..I ultimatly think that was the reason he lost so bad ..They protected him way too much ..

That was the other thing i thought about..
Bute has not been under much pressure in his career, he basicly went from his own backyard to the lion's den.

Anybody that wants to be elite should be able to do so, clearly Bute wasn't at that level.

The only think would count for Bute would be the manner he beats (if he does) his opponent.Until next March Bute is no subject to discuss...

Bute is supposed to fight in September 2012. Still no news of an opponent though...

A confirmed opponent should be identified by the end of this month.
