Bute on the verge of signing 3 fight agreement with Showtime

I'm fine, thanks. I could not be at any of Bute last public trainings, but I hope I'll be able to be there for the next one. I like very much to see fighters in a real gym, being around them and their coaches. Hope to see you there.

 

Great news for the 168lbs division no doubt ! I'm wondering though how they'll sort out the fights. Would Bute get Dirrell on his big comeback fight ? Will Bute get the loser of Green-Johnson in his first fight ? If that's the case, I hope he gets Green cause he spars all the time with Johnson anyways...

This may be possible :

1st fight : The loser of Johnson-Green ( late February, early March 2011)
2nd fight : Andre Dirrell (July-August), after Dirrell also had a tuneup fight in late March.
3rd fight : The winner of the Super 6 if still unbeaten or the loser of the S6 if he lost to Dirrell in his 2nd fight (December 2011).

Great move for Bute and the fans. I'm not sure who he's going to fight, or in what order but all the best Super-Middleweights are with Showtime, so this is where he needs to be.

He'll end up fighting the winner, which is what we all wanted so I'm happy with this.

 

I think it's great, whoever is our favourite boxer. With Bute in, there will be a master in the SMW division.

 

I don't know who Bute will fight in his first fight or two on his contract but I doubt it will be anyone tougher than guys like Miranda or Brinkley. Showtime doesn't want to see Bute upset before he faces the Super Six winner. The whole point of giving him a three fight contract was to ensure he gets the Super Six winner. I think we can rule out guys like Kessler, Dirrell, or any of the guys from the original Super Six lineup. There's a chance of an upset and Showtime is probably drooling over pitting an undefeated Bute vs the Super Six winner.

I don't know man, I get your point and I agree but I think Showtime will still want better opponents for Bute, with Dirrell and Kessler available (probably not at the same time), who else do you think Sho will pay Bute 2M$ to fight?

 

Even if Bute may end in losing his 0, its going to be great to finally see Bute in big, big matchup.

You know what? Who cares about the 0? I mean, I think people are too obsessed about the 0 nowadays..

 

I'm not sure who Bute will face in his next two fights and I hope he gets to face someone like Kessler or Dirrell those would be excellent fights. But it seems like Showtime has a lot invested in the Super Six and despite all its roadbumps they have stuck with it passionately. It seems their loyalty to the tournament and now signing Bute for 3 fights is all leading to a big match between the winner and Bute. An undefeated Bute vs the winner of the tournament is much more attractive than a once or twice beaten Bute.

My guess is Bute faces both Alan Green and Glenn Johnson. He could face the loser of their fight in the spring and then face the winner(if he loses in the Super 6 final four) in the summer. I could also see him facing a young guy like Marcus Johsnon or Edwin Rodriguez in his second fight. Both guys are young, undefeated, and have been on Showtime a few times already. By the summer they could have been on Showtime several more times and could make for reasonable opponents.

 

Well I'd rather see Stieglitz and his WBO belt than Green, and Johnson is a sparring partner and I don't see him compete at all at 168 anyways, but we'll see..

 

Stieglitz is an ok fighter, has a belt, and Bute would be a big favorite to beat him but I don't think he's ever been on Showtime so I don't know if this fight would happen. Thats if Stieglitz would even be interested in it. Neither Green or Johnson can beat Bute but both are known to Showtime audiences and Johnson could make it an entertaining fight. It is interesting to see just who Bute faces while waiting for the tournament winner.
