Bute-Pavlik in March at 166lbs (catchweight)? *Updated*

Who the heck does the match making for KP... for crying out loud... stick him in with a Bika, Green, Andrade etc etc to let him look impressive

andrade has been my choice for a while. the other two are a bit busy, no?

but this is an academic argument at best. all this talk about who kelly will face is all arum/hbo getting blood flow over the flavor of the week. first it was jcc jr at 160 which was arum's idea...now its bute at 166. no one, including kelly, knows where he will go until after the vera fight. if he can make it back to 160 and still be a force, then that is what will happen. from what ive seen, i don't think that is likely. but until you hear kelly himself say something or until you see it reported that a contract is signed, its all speculation.

 

The other two are busy but i was just trying to give fighter examples.

The thing is... i actually think he could beat Bute... i wouldn't make him favourite but i would give him a good chance. The timing just seems all wrong

P.s. I know its way past his weight division... but i would love kelly to smash the **** out of Danny Green

For the weight he used to be a genuinely quick fighter.

 

Putting Pavlik in the ring against Bute is like a human sacrifice. It's almost a guaranteed loss for him. I feel for Pavlik as he can't fight at 160 anymore plus 168 & 175 have good talent there that could decisively beat him. Bute is too slick for him I just see him beating Kelly up.

 

This would be an awesome matchup to take away a bit of the disappointment with the super six fallouts. Wouldn't be the smartest move for Pavlik but at some point i guess he is going to have to push himself to return to the level he was at when he beat Taylor. Although if he is going to step in the ring with a big name SMW it should really be Froch if he wants a better risk to reward ratio.

 

froch pavlik would be a war. an awesome fight that i feel kelly would win and win decisively but would be a war nonetheless. while i would like to see him in there w/ andrade...this would be my dream match up right now.

as far as bute...i sound like a broken record but i cannot emphasize enough that jsmips watched kelly training for martinez and said he's never seen kelly hit the mitts/bag like he was when he wa 175-180 which is right what he came into camp at. bute will never have been in the ring w/ someone as good as kelly. kelly has been in the ring w/ atgs, lineal champs and current champs...the same cannot be said for lucian.

i still reassert that while i'm a lifer in the pavlik nation bute should win. but ya'll are crazy if you think bute will pull a hopkins. not with the marks andrade and brinkely but under his eyes.

 

I agree that he looked a lot faster and mobile. Maybe he should move up then. If he dont, maybe he is not confident in his abilities. Because from what you just say, it's been a while he is staying at 160 feeling "sick" doing so.

 

Whats great in this fight is that it will shows that good fight can be made outside super 6, a myth is now ongoing that all the best fight the best in the s6 when it's only half true. For Pavlik it shows fans that he still want to fight against great fighters and his career is not done. For Bute, all the talk about him fighter only in Canada and such. I think it's a win win for everyone. If Pavlik loose, he was going up and he fought a great fighter. If Bute loose he was doing his first championship fight outside his home with his best opponent to date, so in either case (except maybe in a brutal early KO) both fighters "win" even if they loose.

 

Maybe they should give Alex Arizza a call to properly get him at 168lbs.

 

i think the bute pavlik fight would be good for bute, but not so much for pavlik, i see bute winning tko in 10....even in the states, and thats why i think the bute team want to take this fight to the states, bute beating a known fighter in the states, i see this fight in atlantic city or NY

 

If Bute is the real deal, this is the kind of fight he should take in the US, especially on HBO. In fact, I'm sure HBO would rather get that one in the States if the promoters can get a reasonable attendance. Bute's next step to make a name for himself is to fight and win in the US anyways...
