Just heard Johnny Nelson say on Talksport that we shouldn't be surprised if the fight doesn't happen.I tend to agree.Thinks it's Bute's team who's pushing for the fight more than Bute. I don't have an iota of dislike for Lucian. He's a very likeable guy. But this is all wrong for him.To the many sensible Bute fans;do you really think he has a chance in a rematch.Pavlik is a much better fight for him,and if(and it's certainly an if) he beat Kelly convincingly, then his confidence could get to an acceptable level. But as things stand,he will not come close to beating Carl Froch. And Orbete,I respect your honesty on Pavlik. It's certainly no routine win for Bute.
PityTheFool, what do you talk there? Did you listen Bute's conference? He is simply pushing for the rematch: http://www.boxingnews24.com/2012/07/bute-that-wasnt-the-real-lucian-bute-that-lost-to-froch/ And yes, I am the fan of both. And I really believe Bute has at least 40% chances in the rematch. Of course, if Lucian manages to win Pavlik who is a dangerous opponent.
Now, maybe Froch as Bute's number. Styles make fight. The people who say that Bute is not in the same class as Froch, this is just ridiculous. Let's remember that Bute beated Magee fairly easily like Froch did. That he beated more convincly Johnson then Froch, and did the same with Bika compared with Ward. So, 1) maybe Froch would win all the fights against Bute due to his style. 2) Maybe Bute wasn't is real self that night. 3) Maybe Bute got connected by a good punch in the second round and could never come back from. 4) Maybe a little bit all of the above. A rematch would tell.
I think Bute froze against Froch. I think Froch had the perfect game plan and was the man in the ring that night. Froch was Bute's daddy. Has the too log training camp affected Bute? He was in hard training from January. Yvon Michel from GYM thinks he was overtrained. Was he overconfident? Was it a bad night? I don't know any of these answers. All I know is I didn't recognize Bute that night. I saw him freeze completely. Can he be different in another fight? Maybe. Just maybe, but as a fighter, I want him to think he can do it. And I want him to try. I want him to show the world he can be what he was again.
stop looking for excuses bute was exposed glen johnson is butes long time sparring partner he was there for the $ and to make Bute look good if this fight goes ahead i expect froch to win even earlier Bute's true level has been exposed.
Only the rematch will tell us if Bute had a really, really bad night or that was his real level ! I didn't understant something at Bute. Bute is considered a boxer with a good ring IQ . So , in that night when he saw that Froch isn't the right guy to stay in front of him to counter and trade shots , why Bute or his trainer didn't change the game plan , try to outbox him , hit and run , circle him before thrid or fourth round ??????
Nobody tries to find any excuses ! We just want to see what went so wrong with him because Bute isn't so weak ! He may have a soft chin compared with Froch's chin or Johnson but this guy isn't a guy to beat so easily ! All Bute fans admitted that he was battered by Froch and gave to Froch all their props for his win !
In last fight Bute's strategy was wrong - to stay on the ropes because Froch agresivity fozen Bute's staff plan . That strategy to stay on the ropes with the hope to catch Froch was too risky . His plan was pulverised by Froch this time . Next time i hope Bute to run and hit 12 rounds . I still think Bute has a chance - but this tim Froch is favourite . IN LAST FIGHT BUTE HAS PROVED NO-GLASS JAW , HE WAS HIT ALLOT BUT HE STAYED ON HIS FEET .
Bute didn't show everything he got in the first fight and as a fans I wanna see his best even if he loses again to Froch.
