Lucian Bute is running out of possible opponents for his next fight in July.

All these guys are unavailable or do not want the fight.

    Andrade
    Green
    Pascal
    Ward
    Miranda
    Lacy
    Kessler
    Froch
    Stieglitz
    Taylor

That doesn't leave much. The guys left in the top15 of the IBF are:

Dirrell, Bika, Brinkley, Inkin and Mendy.

Showtime most likely wouldn't accept a European opponent so Inkin and Mendy are probably out. Mendy was part of the Showtime 168lbs tournament tho so who knows.

That leaves Dirrell, Bika and Brinkley. Perhaps new names will show up in the rankings when they get updated in the next few days. Peter Manfredo Jr. could be one of those names.

All in all. Not very exciting stuff.

Brinkley would be a joke. Nobody wants to see that fight.

Bika is a legitimate opponent at 168lbs but Bute already beat him fair and square. Of course they could always market it as a "unification bout" since bika is the IBO champion. lol

Dirrell would be a dangerous fight to take. High risk low reward type of fight.

It's really a shame that Green is having cold feet. He was the perfect opponent for an optional title defense.

Bute is left with a short list of bad choices.

Bute should take this fight. If he's that good it won't be that dangerous will it? Personally I think Dirrell will lose a close (and possibly disputed) decision.

Bute should lay off for another month and then come over to the UK and fight Frochy!!!

How about Curtis Stevens is he still active?

Good chin with a strong punch, should help prepare Bute for Andrade.

He's not ranked in the top15 of the IBF (or WBC, WBA & WBO).

Green called out Bute at ringside after he knocked out DeLeon in his last fight.

Since then he changed his mind and he's apparently looking to fight Carl Froch instead.

Stevens only fought an 8 rounder tho so he could be ready to fight again in 2 months.

The real problem is that he is not ranked. Of course that could change in the next few weeks.

You know damn well that the talk was that Green would most likely fight the winner of Froch Taylor..My guess is that he will take the first fight that he can get, and to be honest it seems that Froch is more willing to fight then is Bute..Bute to me seems to be full of sh*t..I recall reading before his last fight that Andrade would be his next fight in the fall, while its pretty clear that is not going to be...

You're the one full of s**t on this one. ;) Andrade is healing an injury to his elbow and said he wanted another fight before the rematch. Green and Bute's teams had serious discussions before his fight against De Leon and that was the fight that was planned to be made. Green has, again, the chance for an immediate title shot and prefers not to take it. Don't be fooled by Froch calling everybody on the planet. He has to make his mandatory before December, has to recover from his last fight and won't be able to unify until next year.

You are suggesting that Green has turned down an immediate title shot against Bute because he believes he might get a fight with Froch?

    You believe that?

Yeah Yeah whatever, It just seems that Bute is always having someone pull out of talks with him...Or at least his fans come to websites and claim it, I have personally never saw anyone outside of a few Bute fans here claim that Green is picking a fight with Froch over Bute, I have not read anywere but here that Green is turning his back on a fight with Bute.. Ill I know is that before the fights the winners were most likely going to face each other, which is why they were show cased on the same card. While Bute CLAIMED that he would be fighting Andrade in the fall. Truth is true, and Proof proves that.

I believe that. Why wouldn't I? Everything was leading toward Green-Bute. The date was fixed, the Quebec arena was free. Then, Interbox boss said Green wanted to fight Froch instead and that Showtime was backing the idea.
What do you want me to think? It's not the first time Green makes that kind of moves. I'm not the strange guy , he is. ;)
