Good performance by Bute who won every rounds. He dropped Joppy in the ninth round and twice in the 10th before the ref stopped it. And still IBF champion! Lucian Bute! :happy
As GSP said to Matt Hughes after his victory against Penn "I am not impresseed with your performance"
Sorry I thought that link didnt work. So what is exactly you didn't like in the performance? He won every round like he was suppose to. He followed the game planned and stopped Joppy in the later rounds. :huh
Good performance by Bute, overall.:happy Needs to figh tall; needs to establish a better jab; needs to avoid jabs better (improve defence) and needs to get into the action more - he likes to admire his own work too much instead of letting his hands go and finish the job. Pretty much the same performance we've seen from Bute before...Joppy had a good to very good chin but he was shot...he turned out to be a big step backwards for Bute... Bute needs to step it up big time...we need the same kind of calibre opponents as Bika and Berrio... ...looks like Andrade is next if he gets past Stieglitz. That should be a very good fight, especially since Andrade is tough and does pressure very well - should be Bute's toughest test of his career up to that point...:good
I told you guys Joppy had a good jab. He was outjabbing Jermain Taylor in the early rounds when they fought. Could have Bute done a better job at trying to avoid or block that jab? sure. But it's not like that jab came out of nowhere. By the way. I agree bute needs to improve his jab.
Breaking news: Andrade will have is hand full with Stieglitz, this is no walk in the park, mark my word !
Bute was good, but that fight tells us nothing really about how he would fare vs the divisions best. I'd like to see him in with the winner of Froch / Inkin or maybe Mundine. And then maybe Kessler in a year or so if he came through. What I was impressed with was the event itself. Nice venue, good show, good crowd... everything. Nice to see Canada waking up to boxing! Edit: You can Andrade to that list - that would be worth seeing. And no Steiglitz wont beat Andrade from what I've seen of both of em.
