What better way to justify not taking the pascal fight?

green is probably the best available opponent at that weight, and it will get him more recognition than steiglitz.

give him kesslers points, providing he beats green he goes through.

    job done!

Bute really needs to step up in comp and now is the chance. he has two huge opportunities for P4P credentials and real glory with an open S6 spot and a shot at Pascal. If he doesnt take either of them he's making a big mistake

Bute's probably "stuck" with HBO now.
    End of thread.

There's no way he would have been able to tame that cobra. He doesn't deserve Kessler's points.

Yes to mandatory, no to HBO contract. As I mentioned elsewhere, it would be dumb for HBO to fuss about it. There's no opponent Bute could face right now where HBO would buy the fight (other than Pascal, who he's evidently not fighting), and if it's good for boxing as a whole, then it's good for HBO boxing. Being in the tournament will just make him more popular when it's over and he inevitably comes back to HBO.

Still, good luck convincing Bute to fight Allan Green to put him in a situation where if he wins he still might not make the bigger money fights.

meaningful opponents for bute right now as i see it.

mandatory defence(does he have the option of an exemption?)
    pavlik
    stieglitz
    dawson
    pascal
    s6.

by far the most lucrative, and biggest boost to this legacy would be the s6 option.

as for just saying that bute wouldnt have beaten froch, there is no saying AA would have beaten green, yet green started with zero points.
