I've seen Pavlik's last three fights. I've only seen Bute on YouTube, but he must be quite good to comfortably outpoint Bika.
Bute by TKO. Pavlik needs to stay at MW and fight the Duddy's and Lockett's of this world, in all seriousness
Bute fought William Joppy in his last fight, so I don't know why you're trying to make it sound like Pavlik fights nothing but creampuffs. Really it's just a joke to put this guy on the same level of Pavlik, he's never even faced a truly dangerous fighter as far as I can see. He's a good boxer with subpar power. Let's see him fight a real super middle contender before everyone starts singing his praises. There are plenty of them out there. Taylor? Miranda? Kessler? The choice is his.
I'll take Pavlik on points. He punches harder and lands easier than Bute. Bute has a more varied arsenal, and is a bit better defensively, and it would be a hard-fought fight, but I suspect Pavlik would have the more effective punching, and it's not like he would have a disadvantage in workrate.
Bute UD Bute is a southpaw, which would give someone like PAvlik, who relies heavily on the jab, alot of trouble. Also Bute is faster than Pavlik, and his stamina is better than Taylor's. Also Bute is a very big supermiddleweight, so Pavlik won't have the size advantage that he normally has.
I agree with this judgement, as Pavlik has a very classic, consistant puncher's style (he works his way in with jabs). I think he'd take Bute on points, as I don't see the same consistancy from Bute as far as punch output. Although I do like his defensive practice, defense doesn't win fights. I think Pavlik would handle him.
