I dont remember Joppy winning a round But I do think Bute was playing with him, he could have finished him sooner. He didnt have that kind of message he wanted to send yesterday. And no Mister Andrade in the crowd:yep
Joppy won a round? You probbaly refer to him actually impersonating a fighter in the 3rd and actually landing a shot. That didn't win him a round. Bute was toying with him nad carried him for quite a few rounds. That was as onesided as it gets.
Anyone tought the undercard was horrible? Anyone tought that the lights were too strong in the Bell Centre last night? Almost fell i was in a grocery store. Not much ambiance yesterday. Since when are you able to see EVERYBODY in the place all night long! I think they shut the lights for 2 rounds of the last fight. ANyone got caught in the traffic going back home??? 2 hours to pass the Champlain bridge!!!!!!!!! WTF??? Good fight for Bute. Perfect fight i should say. But i must admit, the evening was so so...
The undercard was pretty bad. The girl fight was a joke.A 44 year old 0-5 woman vs a 34 year old debutant?Joke. Martel's opponnent was a butcher taken from work who didn't even try. Gauthier,Dan and Gaudet didn't look impressive against weak opponents. St. Juste showeed some class but he should have got that argie guy out a lot sooner.
I thought Joppy had the most effective shots in the 3rd round???, when he caught him with some good rights, and Bute had to take notice.
I think it had more to do with the fact Joppy is a veteran fighter that knows how to survive. He used a lot of movement and other tactics to survive as long as he did. Zuniga didn't clinch once.
Yeah...experience at the highest level is much underrated. Joppy fought the best. He knew his boxing.
I do not wish to take anything away from Bute. The body shot was awesome, and you will now find me on board the "Lightening Lucian Bute Battleship." However, Zuniga was blood awful, atrocious. I've been watching him since his first fight with Zertuche in April 2005, and that was the worst performance I've ever seen from him. He had is front foot turned in at an ungodly angle, every single time he came forward he stuck his left foot INSIDE Bute's right foot, and he repeatedly threw shots when Bute was WAY out of range. All in all, I could probably do 500 words on what Zuniga did wrong last night. Based on last nights performance he'll be lucky if he can main event Friday Night Fights.
Your prediction was a 116-112 decision. A TKO4 is much more impressive. And as bad as Zuniga was,Bute made him look bad.I told like what weeks ago that they aren't in the same league but the quick KO impressed me too.
The feet problem is common to all righties fighting lefties. The range problem...everyone's had it with Bute, including Bika, who's great at closing the gap...everyone except Andrade, the bulldozer, of course. Bute's very good at enforcing the range that suits him. Zuniga's a MW...shouldn't have been in there with Bute. He's never been that good either. Not when you take away the power he has. Proof of the fact he's not very good was his fight against Oganov, who's a punching bag. That was a poor performance from Zuniga.
I feel very good this morning, after being held in traffic for 2 hours on the way back home, I had plenty of time to appreciate the new atitude that Lucian brought to the ring yesturday. Earlier this week, many people here were saying Lucian might be a different boxer after the ending vs Andrade. That was not my case, because of the level of skills and the effective training Interbox always put in their boxers, especially their jewel, a guy by the name of Lucian Bute. It's probably a very good thing Lucian had to reach inside his head and figure he can't be a nice guy in the ring anymore. Further more, I think Lucian now knows he's better then everybody at 168 and he won't let nobody come close to his belt from now on. Very interesting to see Andrade on the giant screen many times during the evening with the crowd reacting to his large smile. We like the guy and the re-match will pack the place from floor to celling next time they meet. But this time there will be no grabbing, because I still think Bute lost his energy by trying to hold instead of using that energy to trow leathal shots at Andrade. Bute will take good care of Librado and finally we will be able to expect a unification with whoever has the balls to put his belt on the table. Bring on Kessler, Taylor ( who will win a clear UD against Froch ) Balszay or anybody else that can make weight at 168 and Bute will clear them all. In between meals, he could also shut my buddy Finito by knocking Green in 3 or 4... But hey, you never know, I don't know much about boxing after all.... Peace !
I feel good too...because i had plenty of time to recover from alcool. Damn ****ing traffic. Took us 3 hours to go back to Granby!!!!!!!! Thoughts?
