LOL. He's a shitty opponent but BUte decided to stay at 168 until the ss6 is over. it is his decision and has to deal with it. He was staying with HBO in order to get the Pavlik fight but when the fight was off he signed with ShowTime.

Actually, you're spelling his name wrong. It's Magee.

And Mads Larson fight was for the Euro title. It's not a spectacular defense, but he's about on the same level as Brinkley, and it doesn't change the fact that there aren't many good available options yet.

    SMW top 10:

    1. Andre Ward - in S6
    2. Bute
    3. Froch - In S6
    4. Kessler - Injured
    5. Dirrell - Injured
    6. Bika - Already beat him
    7. Stieglitz - They've tried, but refuses to fight Bute
    8. Andrade - Already beat him twice
    9. Johnson - In S6
    10. Abraham - In S6

So who exactly is Bute supposed to fight? The other guys ranked in Boxrec's top 15 are Garth Wood (only 8-1 and locked into a rematch with Mundine), Dmitri Sartison (it would be nice, but since he's with Universum, I don't know that they'd let him fight Bute), William Gare (career 27-14 recrd and unknown outside of South Africa), Brinkley (who he just beat) and Magee.

Magee is legitimately the second or third best option who is potentially available, and frankly I doubt Sartison wants any piece of Bute either.

    Exactly ignorant tits.

    His name is Brian Magee.

So what do the ignorant posters on here know about Brian Magee?

Never rated Magee myself but heres some notes for the ignorant.
Went 22 fights before being beaten by R Reid on points, going down several times but made the fight close.
Fought V Tsypko (who looked unlucky to many against J Lacy) away in Germany to a SD for the European title. Many thought he won but was robbed.
Gave C Froch a tough fight before losing in the 11th.
Beat highly rated M Larsen away in Denmark for the European title.
Beat Thysse who had a win over everyone he fought, who had beaten D Starie. After Magee beat Thysse, Thysse got a title shot. Thysse went on to lose to Beyer, Kessler, Braehmer, Bute, Diaconu and Bika. But only Magee and Kessler stopped Thysse. Magee in the 10th and Kessler in the 11th.
Magee has also beat Makambi and Cherifi, and Jimenez after Calzaghe defended against him.

I dont think Magee takes a shot well but is a better more worthy fighter than Joppy or Brinkley.

    Bute wins

    "Brian McGee" rhymes with "pee"

    ... So I guess that's something.

That's exactly what you said bub. :deal

It is what all Bute nuthuggers have been saying for the past 4 or 5 years. "Bute is OK fighting [insert tomato can name here] because nobody wants to fight him".

It gets tiresome listening to the same old crap, and at some point (probably a few years ago) the blame has to lie with the fighter and his team. :good

    My point exactly.

Nuthuggers: "Oh poor Bute, there is nobody for him to fight, ever." :patsch

Now he'll just have to make 1 or 2 mil fighting yet another tomato can at the sold out Bell Center. He's probably very pissed about that...:rofl

Lucian will get his chance soon enough, too bad Stieglitz turned him down. The Bute/Ward fight will happen, unless Carl can pull something amazing off, and get a ref that can see too.

What a blind ****** you are. You didn't even give him one name, evading the question.

The S6 ****ed availability up in the SMW division, and Bute just signed with Showtime "to face the best opponents at the weight" for $6M / 3 fights. There's a guarantee he'll be facing the S6 winner in the next year or early 2012. Bute and his team always wanted the best opposition possible, and always refused to go up in weight until Lucian either clear 168 or hits a wall. Neither has happened so far. I bet Bute would have fought the S6 guys if the tourney had never happened. Pretty much guaranteed actually.

Bute wants to face the best, and might just beat the best. It's all speculation for now.
