Bute if he wants to keep his belt. Agreed he can move up to 175 but it's his decision if he wants to keep fighting at 168 or fight at 175 and move back down at some point.

 

Mandatory title defense? Well, you cant do much about that unless you wanna give up the IBF belt, and Bute already has defended that belt a good few times already. Jesse Brinkley is a valid B level fighter that should validate Bute as current #1 SMW should he win

Step up against who?!?! ... the only ones who are good fighters and available are Hopkins ; Pavlik(who he's trying to make a fight with) and Bika(who he beat already - and back then i bet he was in better shape then he is now).

Make it in Reno(forget the big payday), give Brinkley 10 weeks to prepare himself and let's be done with it so Bute can still fight before the end of the year.

 

Very disappointing year for Bute. He needs to fight more often and its stupid because he can sell anytime in Montreal. Just have a smaller fight with Brinkley in late summer, he is just going to knock him out fast anyway.

 

Good fight. Bute has been having a chain of difficult fights, an easier stay-active one is reasonable.
