And the Jones knockdown was not by a legal punch but by the bone of Jones forearm against his chin. It totally by accident and Jones was not fighting dirty in any way, but it shows that Calzaghe's chin is pretty good to recover from that bone on bone contact.

Joe is way better than Bute. Because of Hopkins whining Joe doesn't get credit for outboxing BHOp, which he did going away. And Hopkins has gone on to prove he was far from washed up when he fought Calzaghe. No one else handled BHop like that (at least not in many years). Calzaghe by wide decision.

(Although Bute does hit tremendously hard to the body...)

Yeah, Hopkins whining convinced everyone. Seems plausible. Or maybe people just have eyes in there ****ing heads. It was an extremely close fight and an ugly fight. If it wasn't for the HBO brain trust talking everyone into thinking Hopkins was dieing before their very eyes, the fight would have been much more controversial.

-Calzaghe is very fast. He would be the fastest guy that Bute has ever fought. Smartest guy Bute has ever fought. Toughest guy that Bute has ever fought. Actually, Calzaghe would be the best fighter Bute has ever fought if they actually met with each other.

I agree to this point but I think it will be more competitive than the poll reflects.

Faster hands and highter regime for Calzaghe, but Calzaghe never faced an uppercut-power- precision master like Bute. In his five last fights, it is around seven knockdowns caused by uppercuts and for the last four fights all win by KOs, they were all caused by one punch uppercut to the body or the chin, for a total of around eleven uppercuts causing knockdowns or KOs. I don't know if it is a boxing record but it's there.

And if we compare the opponents that they have in common, Tyler Hugues,Kabary Salem and Sakio Bika, a younger and less experienced Bute gives equal and in the case of Salem, better performance ( was the first and the last to KO him).

But when Calzaghe's hands weren't broken yet, Calzaghe vaporized Hughes with a 10 count genuine KO in ONE round. Both Bute and Lacy took 3 rounds to do the job.

But that shouldn't be the point though, as Calzaghe kept you honest even if he didn't have the power. Every opponent Calzaghe had starting from the Kessler fight (all 3 of them) always said this. It's not the power, it's that they can't cope with his speed swarm. And it's not like the swarm doesn't have power. It has enough power to keep you on guard. Nobody ever really went Arturo Gatti on Calzaghe because they couldn't afford it.

What he did have was superb toughness, to the point that if you were even able to knock him down, he would just come back and fight you harder in mere seconds. And normally, when you put Calzaghe down, there was never going to be a second time because he knows how to take the punch away afterward either by movement diffusing the power, or by rolling with the punches.

So even power would be questionable against Calzaghe. If fighters of McGee's caliber could tank through some shots like Bute threw, chances are Calzaghe would have a better showing.

With his 2$ style, Ward will be very hard to beat.
