More about wishing to see Froch's in-ring valiance and willingness to face all comers in recent years pay off with a big win than wanting to see Bute lose. :thumbsup

Also, it isn't the end of the road for Bute if he loses a competitive decision, by any means. The "zero" isn't as important as some play it up to be in boxing. He will still be up at the top of the division and I'd even say a Ward match-up wouldn't have lost any of its luster if Bute vs. Froch is a close competitive fight that just slightly tips Froch's way on the cards.

For Froch, however, he would be pretty much bounced out of contention & big paydays altogether with having lost 2 straight and three of his last five (even though those three are the best three super middleweights in the world). Sure he could climb back - but it would be uphill and very difficult and there would be no guarantee he could reach the top again.

Plus, the usual inclination to go for the underdog - even in their own backyard.

Giving a fighter credit for beating a guy that Ward avoided is the gayest thing any fan can actually do.

That's like me giving Floyd credit for beating Marquez because Marquez embarrassed Pac

I think the overseas factor shouldnt be overlooked. If you look at Calzaghe and Froch themselves they were both nervous and stiff in their debuts against Hopkins and Taylor respectivley, particularly early on.

The last time I can think of a big star came to the UK was Kosta Tszyu. Now at 35 you could suggest he was on the decline but the fervent demeanour of the crowd turned Hatton into a force of nature that night, I dont think he would have won the fight if anywhere else.

WAR BUTE! He has the superior boxing skills, Great body punching and a exciting style. Bute has also showed Froch much respect leading up to the fight, providing no excuses, All Froch can do is say how overrated Bute is and how horrible of a fighter he is, Fu** that ****-nosed Brit Bute is gonna win by UD or who knows maybe he'll ware him down with body shots to a late TKO.

Froch has been really lucky to be picked in the Super Six, instead of Bute or Andrade or Bika. He had some luck against Dirrell and he lost to two of the best SMW in the division - everyone else he fought, including Pascal, was not a natural, proven SMW. So I would say, Froch was lucky to be given the run and credit he got, and even luckier to have Bute, the champ and bigger draw, insist on coming to Nottingham.

If Froch loses to the top 3 in his division, given his age and style, he still has a Pascal rematch, a fight against Cleverly, a fight against Groves, etc, Plenty of biggish fights at home and away to keep him busy until retirement. Froch has proved his class. Bute hasn't yet. He wasn't give the chance. Left out of the s6, ducked by Kessler, ducked by Ward... insisted on coming to Nottingham to make sure the fight happens now.

If Bute loses to Froch, even in Nottingham, then he was overrated. Simple as. That means that he'll never have the moral edge to force Ward to fight him. At best, he'll get a fight against Kessler, but Kessler would probably want Froch again because it's a better risk/reward.

Sorry, I'm not buying it, IB. If you really wanted Bute to have a chance of proving that he's the best at SMW, you'd want him to win.

Froch has had his bite at the cherry against Ward and Kessler. Bute hasn't.

You're a very intelligent guy, and your arguments here are very weak, and hence unconvincing. I guess you don't like Bute that much... not sure why.

I can understand completely why Froch fans want him to win, why the Brits want Froch to win, why huge Kessler fans want Froch to win, and why huge Ward fans want Froch to win, but I can't see why those who aren't heavily biased towards a certain fighter associated with Froch would not want Bute to win, in order to then have a strong case in forcing Ward to face him, for the sake of boxing. Must be an anti-Bute thing. :conf

I'm leaning towards Bute KO. But it's pick em up fight given all the question marks around Bute against elite competition

I'm a big fan of Bute, but even I can see why some unbiased boxing fans would want Froch to win. Come on Dece Bal, don't let the hype get to you too much ;).
