Every men who had a "white night" and gone to work the next day, knows how much that has an effect upon you.
Is not about having a bad chin dude, it's about being to easily hurt, not being able to recover. He had a good chin because he took many good punches but had a bad punch-resistance because he was hurt with every decent punch even if he was still standing he's legs were gone right away.
I'm not playing. 170lbs was mentioned at the beginning as a POSSIBILITY. It's probably for political reasons. Froch doesn't want to put the belt on the line and Bute still wants the fight, at any weight. Sure, 170lbs would be easier to make for Bute than 168lbs. I just noticed Grachev fight is at 170lbs. My bad. :good 168lbs weight wasn't the reason Bute lost the fight. Bute has always struggled to make 168lbs, but he has made it, and then he has recovered well. Every time. Neither was poor punch resistance. Bute took a lot of punishment in the third round without folding. Bute has a chin that is at least "good". I would say it's ALMOST very good.
Yes, it does. Bute's fault. A seasoned champ doesn't cut corners cutting weight and doesn't have a sleepless night before the fight... not unless he's too proud, and hence overrated - we all expected that his preparation would be perfect, because we expected him to act like a consummate professional. It's a good distinction to make, and you're right broadly, but Bute recovered fast enough to become competitive again. No, he recovers fast enough. That wasn't the problem. Every fighter with a good chin would have been hurt to a certain extent by flush straight bombs like that.
Froch who is at the end of his career and has few losses to revenge would never fight Bute at 175. He, right now probably thinks about the Bute fight as a wasted time, a thing that keeps him away from fights against Kessler, Pascal, Dirrell etc. Bute was always at a very thin line between perfectly planned weight-loss and being drained, the foot injury and the travel to UK probably made him step outside that thin line which ended in him having to struggle to make weight the night before the fight losing sleep.
Bute is closer to the end of his career if he gets destroyed by Froch again, imo. True. But maybe you also know that Bute has been so dehydrated he hasn't managed to sleep before the weigh-in in the past too.
Beyer is that era's Allan Green or Edison Miranda. I'll say it again, Kessler had 39 fights to Bute's 29 before their first big test. Kess should not have taken that long to step up.
