Bute coming up through the ranks was considered by me to be the top prospect in the sport. in regards to talent, there are very few who have more than him. Kessler fought very well against Calzaghe and in the early appeared to be controlling the fight before Joe adjusted. I think Bute would probably be a tad to green to be facing Kessler at this point in his career. I generally believe that eventually these two will step in the ring at some point but if the fight was today, who would you pick.
Kessler by wide UD or even a late stoppage. Bute needs to fight someone top 5 smw before going for the #1. Joppy and Berrio are both far from top dogs at smw. I would love to see how Bute would look against someone like Andrade, Mundine or Froch.
Bute is a good B level at the moment. Kessler is B+ at least. Bute will fight Andrade in autumn. Then, we will see whether Bute is more than B level too. At the moment, as things stand, Kessler beats Bute, by wide UD. Because of styles, Kessler wouldn't stop Bute. This fight should happen in 2009 sometime. Bute needs to improve and learn before having a good chance against Kessler. When Bute gets into the ring with Kessler, he will do so to win. He might not win, but he won't get thrashed either.
At this point, I would strongly favor Kessler - but he would have to keep evolving - just like Bute is. Bute is improving his defensive game, and it is up to Kessler in his next top tier fight to prove that he learned from the Calzaghe fight. Furthermore, I think Kessler soon needs new inspiration in form of a new coach and other corner people around him - but time will tell us more...
17-0; quite right; Bute would lose now; but when the fight happens, when Bute gets into the ring, the odds won't be as onesided as this...:yep
that´s true, but i think kessler would hate to leave his trainer richard olsen now, they have allways been together,as you know. but then maybe a guy more in the corner could bring new things to the table.
