Because he brings a name to the table. If Bute wants the big fights in the future he has to fight on US television and Jeff Lacy brings that.

If Bute is lucky it could mean 3 fights in a row on US television for him.

    Bute-Andrade I (Showtime)
    Bute-Lacy (Showtime?)
    Bute-Andrade II (Showtime or HBO)

Jeff's people can't be sane, Bute will "lacy" Jeff for 8-10rds before his corner hopefully pull him out. I agree with the guy who said about Jeff fighting a few bums to learn some new things.
Also Bute's people are lame, a rematch with Andrade would just as likely get HBO airtime and not be such a joke of a fight.

Reading another thread about JT/Di Bella and what they want, this could mean 4 in a row if he can manage to get past Lacy and Andrade. I think with the exposure and name Bute would build up should he take these fights that they make total sense, especially if they set up a showdown with Taylor.

Bute will stop Lacy..., something Calzaghe and Taylor both didnt do. Than, Bute will rematch Andrade and will face Taylor because he will beat Froch.

I just can't understand why Bute would fight a shot fighter like Lacy. Ok, maybe exposure but after a quick win, people would be saying that Bute takes on weak fighters only. Get Tsypko and after that Andrade to soundly beat him, leaving no doubt about who won the first fight.

Cuz Bute got KO'd in his last match and they don't want that to happen again?

And stood defenseless as Adrade kept coming. Point is, they want something less risky next fight. So, since Lacy was a belt holder he gets another payday/shot.

You mean before he went down right? Because after that there was nothing Andrade could have done. The fight was over.

I've been told that US television is interested by the fight but nothing is signed yet.

A quick look at the Bell Centre's schedule shows that the fight will happen a Friday.

The only available dates at the Bell Centre in March are Friday 13th and Friday 27th.

This rules out HBO. So I'm guessing Showtime.

Let's go for the 13th. Bute doesn't need a 3 months training camp to prepare for Lacy.
Not a great challence but a good fight to compare him with Taylor.

If Taylor-Froch doesn't get made (which is unfortunately how it looks right now), why doesn't Bute just go straight after Taylor? Forget Lacy. Taylor is looking for a late March fight as it is; the timing is perfect.

Bute has no intentions of coming to the US, and Taylor has no intentions of going overseas.

Fortunately Canada is not overseas... and DiBella went on the record immediately after the Lacy fight, saying he had contacted Bute's people and would give the go-ahead on Bute/Taylor in Montreal.

I know Taylor is hesitant to go to Europe, but I can see him fighting in Montreal.

Bute wasted months in negotiation with Mads Larsen and Sauerland just to have Larsen pull out of the fight just last week. Same goes for Froch and Taylor. They have been in negotiation for weeks. The odds of a Bute-Taylor fight being made now is pretty slim. These things take time.

I wouldn't say Bute's is not interested in fighting in the US.

The thing is Bute sells a hell of a lot more tickets then any American fighters at 168lbs.

What's the point of making a Bute-Taylor fight in the USA in front of 5000 people when you could make it in Montreal in front of +20 000? It's not like Montreal is in a different timezone of anything.
