I'm surprised Bute is leading in the poll.

Pascal was shot after 6 rounds against Dawson who basically did nothing for the entire fight.

Strange thing that he hurt Dawson at least twice past that point.

You will probably find in any crowd at least one guy that knows it decently enough to answer you few questions. A Bulgarian once late in the night about 02:00 asked for my directions how to get to the border, the only word I didn't remembered how it was in English was "Roundabout".
In high school in a class of 30 ppl only 1 didn't knew english good enough to have a decent conversation.
It's hard to put in percentage but I estimate at least 35% of the population of Romania knows it pretty good.

Pascal has gassed against Diaconu twice, against Hopkins twice, against Dawson, he's also come at 30 day weight in the heaviest ever in a title fight.
Also Bute is planing to have a high pace in this fight, to push his limits further.

You are correct in everything you said, but I just don't think stamina will be a significant problem for him in this one as much as people are claiming.

In Froch fight , Bute was well prepared but only physically not mentally and strategic .

The big question is to be prepared to annihilate pure violence from Pascal's assault .

If Bute can avoid or annihilate Pascal's ambush - Bute will be the winner .

Yeah, Romania is part of the Francophonie, because in the 18th and particularly the 19th century, it was very fashionable for rich, well-educated people to spend time in Paris - they would even speak French amongst themselves and in the family at home!

The Romanian language has been much enriched with French neologisms and Bucharest used to be called Little Paris until the second world war.

Romania has always seen itself as a mini-France and before WW2 aspired to the same cultural and social values and norms. In turn, France has always been a huge supporter and protector of Romania, diplomatically and even militarily.

Cultural exchange hasn't been one-way traffic, though. Romania has given France great people too, like the sculptor Brancusi and the playwright Ionesco, who made their home in France, and there are more Romanian members of the Academie Francaise than of any other nation, except for France, of course.

After the second world war, French influence and culture become less prevalent, in Romania too.

Communist rule meant that Romania became one big prison - Romanians lost touch with the West and with France, and young people were forced to learn Russian in school, which almost everyone insisted on not doing, on a point of principle. Only the highly educated elite that had been born between the World Wars still understood and spoke French reasonably well.

After 1989, the British Council worked very had to ensure that the foreign language of choice amongst Romanian youth would be English - they sent schools plenty of high quality textbooks for free, for one. France did nothing. So young kids learned English whereas their parents and grandparents had preferred French.

Very, very few Romanians over 40 speak a foreign language at all well. People under 30-35, I would say are doing a bit better, but not because of school, but because of TV, music, and ...places like the Internet, where guys like BeastsideBoxing can practice their English daily for free!:D

I would say that only about 5 - 7% of Romanians 35 and under speak English as well as BeastsideBoxing. Only 2-3% speak better than him. French? Divide those numbers by 5-10!

Most young people who consider themselves as competent English speakers speak about as well as flashy k.o, for example. In the countryside and in smaller towns young people, although they might think they can speak a bit, would struggle badly to have a very simple conversation. Very few Romanians need to use English on a daily basis, like BeastsideBoxing, so they have no need to be competent. Even Romanian diplomats based in London, for example, speak very poor English - a lot worse than BeastsideBoxing...! In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if BeastsideBoxing spoke better English than all the diplomats in the Romanian Embassy in London.

What is sad for me is that had BeastsideBoxing been educated in Germany or the Scandinavian countries, say, he would speak almost perfect English... :conf

    - sorry for picking on you and using you as an example, bro... ;)

That reminds me of the Romanian presidents statement that "The ducks come from the trucks" when trying to say that "The Dacians origins are in the Tracians ancestors" had me laughing out loud.

I'm quite decent at English, but my accent is not quite perfect. It's funny because I think it's shameful that I can't pronounce all the words exactly like I should, and I hate it because it's sounds a bit like Russian accent and I don't really like Russians that much, and don't like to be associated with them. But like I said it's funny because there were few girls that when I said I can lose the accent if I just leave for 3-4 months into a English speaking country like US, Canada, England they threaten me so firmly by saying "don't you dare lose that accent" "It's so sexy".

Romanians are friendly, non-aggressive, easy-going people. They like to enjoy themselves and have fun, and they're good at it - they don't need a drink to have a great night, for example. They are gregarious (latin culture influence) and live for today!

With foreigners, Romanians usually feel they have something to prove, because they don't have the best of reputations in many countries in the world, generally speaking. They will be extra nice and respectful, because they want to feel accepted and liked. They're not faking it, they deeply and truly want to make a good impression, and sometimes, this is out of a feeling of inferiority, but usually, out of generosity.

Many Romanians also like foreigners more than they like their fellow Romanians, especially the ones who live abroad. (Just my views; I don't speak for anyone but myself, obviously).:good

I would say if you read BeastsideBoxing's posts, you can get a good idea what Romanian people are like. He is quite typical.
