Haha ... Yeah, that might be a more objective question. :D

As you respectfully underlined, I do believe Pascal will keep on improving to match Bute's level. I think he does have the potential in many aspects of the sweet science: athleticism, heart, speed, underrated power ... And he's a spectacular risk-taker.

I can't see why he would stop improving given that:
    - he now knows he can go toe-to-toe with a world-class boxer (talking about Froch here, even though Diaconnu is a very decent fighter) in a brawl that does not suit him

    - he got a world champion title (which he still needs to defend to be called a legitimate champion) while just starting to use his skills in an intelligent way

    - he now has gained more respect from the boxing world, which will allow him to train and fight at an appropriate pace

    - and finally, he seems to thrive for fame and recognition. He WANTS to be loved by the crowds and establish himself as one of the best in the sport.

Whether or not he can do it remains to be seen, but I think he's a much more clever guy than most people give him credit for. I think he took a couple of fights while injured, and put on a show just to help him get the attention needed for bigger fights. For the Froch fight, he knew he was going to be nervous (and maybe drained at SMW) and would have to give an impressive performance to shut the Pittman critics up. He therefore decided to go all-in instead of relying on the judges while away from home. Did not get the belt, but got a lot fans and respect from that fight.

Judging from his progression in the last 2 fights, I think he knows he still has a lot of holes in his game, but also knows he has the potential to adress them. Like he says, this is just the first step and there is much, much more to do ahead.

Of course, there's no way for me to prove this, but then again, neither can anyone prove it wrong. ;) Time will tell us.

    What do you think?

The thing is, Bute's been improving dramatically as well. It's not like he's stagnating or something.

I'm not saying he's stagnating or something, just that most of his improvement might already be done.

Let's over-simplify this to the limit, just to be clear:
If we consider the mastery of a given skill on a % scale... Do we agree that going from 0% mastery to 10% is much faster and easier than going from 85% t 95%?

What I'm thinking is that most of Bute's progression was done before Pascal's. He therefore progresses slower than Pascal at the present time, but that doesn't mean he's not better, or not getting better.

Of course, I may be wrong and have failed to see obvious improvements in Bute's last couple of fights. Care to help me see thoses?

Amen.. although I don't think Pascal's power is underated. Most non-******ed people around here know he can punch.

Based on their tools and natural styles I think Bute beats Pascal 75% of the time at 168 or 175...
