Many have said here that they hate when a close fight is called a "robbery". But with regard to the Williams/Lara fight, "robbery" fails to describe the decision. Robbery implies a bad decision, yes, but I think there are such things as "good faith" (so to speak) robberies, i.e. where the judges are biased and influenced by the crowd and the politics but not engaged in an act of criminality.

But last night's decision was not merely a robbery. It was a criminal fraud. An act of malfeasance, deliberate, knowing, and premeditated. Laws were broken, real laws. Money exchanged hands. There is no other explanation.

But where are the investigative reporters digging behind the scenes exposing this stuff? Max Kellerman complains about this (and other) decision, as he should, but doesn't do anything more. What can he do? I'm not sure, but he knows who the players are, and he could at the very least, interview the sanctioning bodies, investigate the judge selection process, the promoters, etc. and write about his findings.

Does anybody else think that a serious reporter is obligated to try and expose criminal fraud in boxing?

I can understand why Interbox doesn't want to hear that ****, but at the same time **** those people.

If there was proof all these fighters (you know, the ones they like to say Bute ducked) had been giving an honest effort to get a Bute fight, and not just using Bute's name in the media to make it "look" like it, it might be a different story.
