probably, but what are his other options? continue fighting C class opposition? he's got to step it up sooner or later, or he could move down a class or up but if he thinks he's ready, i wanna see it....though i like him and i wanna see him get his hands on a title, this works for me also as a Bute fan
He thinks he's ready? Why, cause he beat a couple of (past-it) journeymen? He's never ever fought anyone in the top 40-50 as far as I can tell, and yet he's ready to face a proven world class fighter in his prime? Why not fight a top 30/20 fighter, and then someone like Bika or Andrade...he's KNOW whether he was ready then. As things stand, he's just a chancer looking for a pay-day and exposure. He MIGHT be ready, but nothing he's ever done suggests he is.:good
Like some of you said, there's not that much options available to Bute. Pascal, Green, Froch, Taylor all fight in April. Miranda too (or is it late march?). Ward is available and Dirrell fights soon. So it's Ward or someone that goes up from 160 or goes down from 175. Maybe Mundine? I would like Bute to finish that sorry Aussie!:bbb Or Golovkin to avenge the lost in the amateur ranks!
If we're lucky, it'll be Green, and then we'll have two ways to shut Finito up ... just type Emmet Linton .... OR ... Lucian Bute:yep
Forget about Ward! In a radio post-interview last night, Stephane Larouche said that neither Ward or Dirrell are enough big names now. Larouche threw names like Lacy and Miranda. However, according to Journal de Montreal's boxing journalist, the big contender for June 19th in Quebec City is Sakio Bika. Bute woudl give him a revenge. In addtion, he is ranked #3 IBF. Apparently, Showtime likes the idea. Bika or Miranda would be two good picks in a final preparation to Andrade.
Did you see that, sean? Apparently Bute's coach Larouche is considering giving Bika another go!:yikes ...I think Bika is better now than he was the first time he fought Bute...:deal ...Miranda??:think
i do not think they will go bika. they already beat him and bika is not a fighter you need to go in twice against. jeff lacy has his own promotional arm now so that could be a good showcase and be made.
The thing is...Showtime decides, ultimately. They're not interested in Lacy and Lacy refused a shot anyway, last time around (Zuniga). It won't be Pascal...he needs to rebuild He's fighting early April anyway...he wouldn't have enough time to prepare...and anyway, the Canadians want Bute v. Pascal to happen only later next year, it seems... I agree that there's no reason for Bute to fight Bika again. Bika performed very well against Bute and Bute still beat him clearly in a close fight, no? But...Bika's all action...and it would make for an entertaining fight...a very close fight too... So...that kind of leaves Miranda as the betting favourite for the shot, no? Would Miranda be acceptable as a challenger? Or is he just another MW who fell short against the best, like Zuniga?:think
