As far as we know. Showtime is interested in showing a fight between Bute and Taylor if he wins. They are not very interested in a Bute-Froch fight at the moment but that could change depending on how Froch performs against Taylor.

They are also interesting in putting Bute against the winner of Green-De Leon. But the winner of that fight could very well end up fighting Taylor if he wins. Leaving Bute with not many options for his next fight.

Man, Super Middle is stacked. All this talk and I haven't even heard a mention of my favorite fighter in the division, Andre Ward. Needs a little more seasoning, but has loads of talent. Still looking for a fight too.

Great fight for Ward. Good to see him stepping up while Dirrell fights guys Ward beat three years ago.

I'm getting really tired of reminding people that Findley was basically a fill in after David Banks pulled out two weeks ago.

Andre Ward hasn't faced anyone on the level of Anthony Hanshaw or Victor Oganov. Oganov is a massive can which should tell you about Wards current resume.

David Banks? Wow. He may be worse than Findley.

Are you just taking the **** or are you really serious about that?

You realize David Banks would probably smoke anyone on Wards resume right? Unless you really think highly of unknowns like Henry Buchanon and never was fighters like Rubin Williams.

I mean Banks has beaten Elvin Ayala (who has only lost to Banks and Arthur Abraham) and was jobbed against Peter Manfredo. Both of those would be the best wins on Ward's resume with ease.

Dirrell has been killing the competition of Andre Ward and maybe that's fine. Ward is probably more behind due to injuries and usually slow development. That said let's not play like Ward is on some stratosphere above Dirrell when Dirrell has at least been in with relatively tough comp for a young prospect.

Ok, let's repeat: Bute said ONCE he was not ready for Kessler, a year and a half ago. He's ready now. Mores, when Kessler called Bute out, he had a hand injury and was out of the game for months. After that, his manager chose the WBA way (Haussler and Sartison). Kessler has never been available for Bute. Never.

I doubt Green/De Leon winner is going to take a fight with Bute with 2 months or less in between the bouts. Isnt Bute looking for a June matchup?

Calm down, calm down. I'm a huge fan of Dirrell as well. I think Ward-Dirrell will be a huge fight a year or so from now. Both guys need to step it up. And I know Findley was a last minute replacement but Banks is a step down from guys Dirrell has already faced. I agree with you completely that Ward needs to step it up and Miranda is a step up. A pretty big one. Honestly, I hope both guys keep winning and we have a big showdown a year or two from now. Great division. Two great fighters. Didn't mean to get you riled up. Just not impressed with Banks or Findley. Dirrell is light years ahead of both. I think I'm also getting a little tired of guys fighting way below their talent level. We're just seeing too many blowouts lately.

Let's look at the top 15 IBF ranked SWM that Bute could fight for his voluntary defense...

    1. NOT RATED
    2. Vitaly Tsypko (fighting elimination bout)
    3. Librado Andrade (fighting elimination bout)
    4. Sakio Bika (already defeated)
    5. Robert Stieglitz (lost to Berrios and Andrade, two people Bute beat. Not too worthy)
    6. Jermain Taylor (fighting Froch for belt)
    7. Andre Direll (good opponent, might take the fight)
    8. Jeff Lacy (moving up to LHW)
    9. Edison Miranda (decent name for Bute, would take the fight)
    10. Andre Ward (good opponent, might take the fight)
    11. Jesse Brinkley (who?)
    12. Jean Pascal (will never fight each other)
    13. Fulgencio Zuniga (already defeated)
    14. Allan Green (fighting too soon to make a June fight)
    15. Jean Paul Mendy (who? fighting in May anyway)

To me, there are only three choices here that Bute could face with any kind of respect. Direll, Ward and Miranda.
    Thoughts?

I see noting wrong with the logic, but logic and boxing politics are two different things. You know I'd like to see Miranda get a shot. Not sure Bute is a good match up though. Also beating Bute at home is not quite the same as beating AA in Germany, but.....

Agreed. Also, if Green wins, DiBella is going to want to keep him in his back pocket until Taylor gets a big fight, that way he can drive up the asking price for a Taylor fight by plausibly threatening to have him fight Green.
