OK... I have read the threads and the news. But I dont get it. I watched the fight live and all Bute had to do was stand up and beat the 10 count. He was on his feet within 5 seconds of being on his ass and waited for the ref to lift his hands. With or without the 'controversy' of the longer count to get Andrade back in the corner, Bute beats the count.

He went down with 2 seconds left in the fight. He stands up quickly. He wins the fight. Bute was out on his feet and the ref couldve stopped the fight before the knockdown. But in a fight like this, with what was a stake, you let the fight continue a little longer than usual.

Ref screwed up with the extra time, no doubt. But it would have not changed the outcome of the fight.

On another note, this was my first TV experience watching the champ. I must say, I was very impressed. If he he was a little less cocky and more cautious in the later rounds, he would have never gotten into this mess. He is quick, great counter, and hard to hit. Id love to see him get a crack at Joe. It would be an excellent fight.

Bute made a fan out of me!

There is no controversy. He beat the count and won.Even without the ''long count'' he still would have won but people don't understand. No matter,a rematch is inevitable and he will dominate Andrade AGAIN.

If I were Bute I would avoid the rematch. If Andrade came out a little earlier like he did in the 12th, he wins the fight.

Andradre is one of those guys I would keep any good fighter away from. He is next to impossible to hurt, but throws a bomb. It is hard to keep the beast away for 12 rounds. You either win a wide decision if you can stay away, or you get your ass handed to you in the mid to late rounds!

I believe the bell does not ring until the count is over and the ref decides to continue the fight. If he beats the count and the ref is ready to start action, the bell is rung immediately. If the fighter cant continue, the bell need not ring since it is a KO.

Bute beat the count. If he was able to stand up, he was able to lift his gloves and I am sure he could have taken a step. Even if he was shakey, he didnt have to fight anymore. He showed a warrior's heart and beat the count. To me that is all it should take. He is a well deserved #1 SMW!

It's not standard procedure if that's what you mean. And the bell should have rang immediately after Bute got up

No. The problem is many people started to talk before searching facts. Especially guys from Showtime. According to the IBF rules, all he had to do was to stand, his hands clearing the canvas. The fight is then over, there is no more time on the clock. The rules about a knock down just before the clock rings are different than the rules when there is still time on the clock, for a simple reason. It can not be dangerous for Bute to resume the fight, the fight is over.

No doubt the money would be nice. But it is a big risk that Bute need not take. He made a ton of fans here in America with that showing. He is better off fighting 1-2 easier opponents and work on even bigger money later.

Sometimes the risk aint worth the reward, ask Kelly P!

They wanted to get Kessler anyway in 09 so that might be even harder. He will fight Larsen next and then the rematch is more than likely.

After 1-2 fights, Kessler would be a great fight. Sure, you have to have risk when you are a top fighter. But beating Andrade again does nothing for Bute. Andrade is a no name fighter without a belt.

Kessler is a big risk, but he brings Bute a much much bigger reward than a rematch with Andrade. If I were Bute's handlers, I would take low risk fights until I could force a fight with Joe or Kessler. A fight with Andrade is too risky to lose the opportunity to fight these other two guys.

Unless he drops IBF and goes after Kessler, he will fight Andrade again.
