no actually, pavlik was the first person to stop zuniga. it wasnt just the cut that stopped the fight it was also the punishment he was taking that led to the corner stoppage.

kelly was also the first person to stop mckart, zertuche, miranda and taylor. so i again ask what is your point? you hold these wins of bute's up like they are some career defining moments. kelly knocked these men out on his way to knocking out the undisputed mw king. has lucian done anything similar?

lucian is the real deal b/c of his talent and skill set, not b/c he's knocked out kelly pavlik's leftovers and a guy who is a poor man's version of kelly who actually stopped bute the first time around.

If Pavlik could find Bute and put intelligent pressure on him, it could be really competitive. The thing is, I just don't see Pavlik being mentally there. Maybe if he rededicated himself it could be a good fight. I am still not too certain Bute would handle pressure for a full 12 rounds all that well. But can Pavlik make changes to be able to find him enough? Big if to me.

    A, B, C comparisons mean nothing here.

Bute-Andrade-1 won't happen again. Maybe if Pavlik had fought Bute at that time, he could have won. But it's been 18 months since that fight and Bute has improved a lot.

And Pavlik's boxing skills have gotten worse in that time. That's why I say he would really have to put in some real dedication and change things up some.

hey man, i love bute. i've been a fan of his for a while and feel he has the talent to be the best smw in the world hands down. he goes to the body more effectively than damn near anyone.

but since that fight he's had 11 or so rounds against guys that kelly stopped back when they had more than just a name. the second andrade fight was a thing of beauty. that left was clean and the body shot was brilliant. but kelly is better than that. i have actually seen nothing to convince me that bute can swim in deep water. he's gotten these guys outta there early (a testament to his talent), but if he can't get kelly outta there early, i have seen nothing that he will hold up for 12 rounds full of pressure.

i wish i could disagree. i'm just holding out hope that he will be fresher at a higher weight and can regain some of his old form.

I see Doobie already corrected you on this one. Zuniga was tough but he had no business at SMW.

“I want to fight Andrade again,” Lucian Bute said this week. “It’s a must. We have to fight again. Hopefully he will win his mandatory fight aginst Vitali Tsypko (on April 4 in Montreal) and he will be my next opponent for the fall. We need to settle this. I need to do this and he also deserves it. The 168-pound division is full of great fighters and

This said, I have a good fan base in Quebec, Interbox can organize major fights for me here and HBO can cross the border to broadcast my fights.

Bute has improved big time ever since he barely beat Andrade in the first fight. Sure Andrade gave Bute hell in the 1st fight in which you think it mean Pavlik could do the same but better but remember the word "style makes fights" in which it has been proven many times with Cotto beat Mosley, Margarito tko Cotto, Mosley tko Margarito. De la hoya beat Castillejo, De la hoya beat Sturm (everybody thought Sturm beat De la hoya), Sturm lost by tko to Castillejo. Frazier beat Ali, Foreman ko Frazier, Ali ko Foreman.

If Bute vs Pavlik happens, i guarantee you that Bute will beat Pavlik cause his fast hands, proven puncher, real good skills will be too much for Pavlik to handle.

Yeah thanks for spelling that out for me, I'd never heard that one before because, as you can see, I'm a boxing newbie. "Styles make fights" - I'll have to remember that one.

I seriously doubt if this fight will happen. I wouldn't take bets on it, but I won't be surprised if KP has a tune-up at 175 around November, and then goes after Dawson/Cloud/Pascal (whoever has a belt and brings the most money) early next year.
