is bute a champion? i don't consider a belt holder a champion. I thought most people realize the abc belts don't mean much either. Titles meant something when there was only one per division.

    Look Magic....

I know there are some Canadian fans, maybe a couple Romanian fans, who blindlessly nuthug a domestic fighter. Being from Sweden?, you simply don't get that luxury.:yep
I'm an american though. From S Chicago. I live in redneckville Kentucky now. Theres no blind nationalism coming from me.

It was the circumstances you allude to which made me a fan. When Showtime first started the tournament, it looked to me as if they were building it for Sauerland. I was ok with that since at that time, I wasn't really a fan of any top SMWs except Kessler. My guy, CalSlappy, had been out of it for about 2 yrs and Kessler looked the heir apparent.
I scarcely knew who Bute was when the tournament started, having seen only a couple of his fights on HBO.

It was when he left HBO for Showtime shortly after the tournament began that I became a fan. He was leaving the larger network for no other reason, then to be included in the tournament. It would have been as an alternate, but he'd still have to have 2 wins to be crowned.
When the other promoters gave Showtime the go to include him, and G0053N threatened to pull Ward, it was at that moment that I became a Bute nuthugger.
Here he was, this relatively unknown fighter from Romania, being ducked by an olympic gold medalist, now favored to win it all.

When the tournament ended, and Ward still ducked him.....I was hooked.

Don't blame Bute for sitting in Canada. Blame Ward for hiding in Oakland.

    :deal:yep

Ward's team know that Bute has the right style to give Ward nightmares ! Thats why they will continually duck him ! Froch schooled Bute but Ward will have troubles with him ( Bute ) !

TBH , now I'm not interested about the Froch rematch and I don't care if Bute would be beaten by Froch 10/10 , I really don't give a ****. What I really want to see is if Bute fights with Bika , beat him , take the WBC strap , will Ward ( the emeritus WBC champ ) fight him / Bute ?:think:hey

People forget that Bute was willing to travel in Oakland to fight with Ward but Ward wasn't agree ! In Oakland / in Ward's home turf !

They are still living in that fantasy land where Bute was actually thought of as a threat mean while Bute is still recovering from the Froch beat down !

You guys are smarter than both Ward and Kessler. They could have taken a very good purse (Ward's highest so far) and a belt from a scrub but decided against it.

In Ward's case it actually makes sense. He gets to fight undefeated GOAT candidate Kelly "there's no amount of beer that can knock me out" Pavlik for a record purse in front of his family and his 20 other friends.

Worse hype jobs than Bute (by ESB standard):

    Pacquiao - lost 5 times - scrub
    Lewis - lost 2 times - bumm
Cotto - lost 4 times - what was he even thinking when he chose boxing
muhammad ali - lost 5 times - how did he even make it in the newspapers?
Kessler - lost 2 times - he wished he was Bute
Wlad + Vitali - lost 5 combined - they call em the fail brothers
Hopkins - 6 losses - many on this forum cant even count that high - scrub
De la Hoya - 6 losses - homo
Jones Junior - too embarrassing to even mention - waste of space on the floor
    Frazier - 4 losses - sigh
Chaves - 6 losses - why did he have to make his son take on boxing so he can scrub it up more - damn bum
Sugar ray Leonard - 3 losses - Guess he got the sugar name from his boyfriend
Roberto Duran - 16 losses - who is this guy anyway
Joe Lewis - 3 losses - hahaha loser
Sugar Ray Robinson - lmao at this waste of gloves

All hail Goat's "Prison" Matweather, "can an arena really support more than 3 000 seats?" Ward and "my sister tought me how to fight" Calzaghe.

Lacy didn't meet Bute's opponents before meeting Calzaghe. Sheika and Pemberton, what fighters are those? The Brits hyped Jeff.

If you ask me Bute is closer to Sergio Martinez's level than Chavez Junior But wrong opponent and location and too much wasted time.

He is a better boxer than Chavez Jnr but I'm not sure in what sense you think he's on a par with Martinez.
Are you saying Bute is a potential top 5 P4P'r?
    Just asking.

No, mate, but top 15 and even now Bute should be listed top 20 P4P. I only think he is closer to Martinez than Chavez. Even though I respect the Mexican.

That's a brave statement and I actually have a modicum of respect for you for coming on and saying it.

About 20 places wide of the mark for me though, but it's all about opinions and yours is as valid as mine.
