Aside from Klitchko's massacre of Briggs, we also had Bute thoroughly beating the living god out of Jesse Brinkley for 9 rounds. Brinkley was completely outclassed and absorbed enormous punishment. Brinkley should retire, as that was a career ending mauling he received What are your thoughts on Bute's victory, and where should he go from here?
It was just a decent title defense that gets flack because of it being in the context of a fairly rich division. I think it shows that Bute is a very excellent operator and maybe the best body puncher in the sport. But he still has yet to be "the man" in the division. Nobody has been there since Calzaghe.
I'd like to see him fight one of the super six guys, but its apparent after a round or so of that, those guys aren't interested in fighting guys that will be difficult. And Bute seems to have no interest in fighting a real threat either, so basically the super mids is a division full of ultra talented cowards.
I was pretty surprised that it lasted nine rounds. Other that I really can't comment. I was working last night, so I'm still waiting for the fight to show up on You Tube.

I just now watched the fight. I certainly understand why Pavlik's manager sent Bute an offer. Cameron Dunkin is a smart man.
