It can't be next fight, or better said next defense of the IBF title since they said it's a possibility for both mens(Froch/Bute) to have a fight in-between. It could be a time limit for example maximum 1 year after, I'm guessing Froch's promoter wasn't that idiot to let an unlimited time-span.
/thread It's just the self-interested, self-promoting Obreja talking crap as usual. According to IBF rules, Bute cannot get a rematch in his next fight anyway, because he lost by stoppage.
The in-between fight has to be against a legit fighter, though. Preferably someone with KO power and/or very tough and strong. Adonis Stevenson?
Probably best choice(Stevenson), Allan Green has a decent punch and not much of boxing abilities, he might not fancy 168 tho.
It would be quite a risk with the in-between fight though, as we can be sure that Froch will fight a top 2-3 guy. If he fights Kessler in the UK (which is the most likely scenario) it would be a 50/50 fight. If Kessler wins then it makes the rematch clause worthless, where as if he takes the fight he will 1) make a lot of money and have home advantage and 2) have a chance to redeem himself.
I thought Froch said he wanted an easy defence next, in his hometown. I somewhat doubt it will be Kessler next for Froch, although, of course, they both want it to happen.
froch will not take a tune up. Kessler will be next. He has gone on record saying that tune ups are not what he wants and that he would struggle to get up for them. Froch just wants the fight the best the division has to offer.
Yeah, go for it Bute ! Watch the tapes, learn and come to the fight with the eye of the tiger, as Creed would say. There's a great chance you get KTFO, but also some chance you'll find redemption (but Bute's corner should be prepared to throw the towel early).
«Nous pouvons même choisir le prochain adversaire de Froch et s'il perd, l'adversaire en question doit par la suite se battre contre Lucian. Nous sommes très bien protégés.» "We can also decide who's gonna be Froch's next opponent. And if he was to lose, his opponent WOULD HAVE to fight Lucian. We are very well covered/Protected." -Jean Bébard (Interbox president)
