In La Presse on satuday, Don Majesky, Interbox's fight negociator, said that bute will be looking to make 2 optional defences before taking on his mandatory. He says that potential adversaries include, but are not exclusive to, Cristian Sanavia, Robert Stieglitz, and Librado Andrade. He also said that what he really wants is a fight against the winner of Roy Jones Jr. vs Tito Trinidad. Majesky feels that these are 2 easy fights for Bute and that they would give him a high level of notoriety. There is also mention that Bute's career is just starting, and he doesn't think Bute will fight Calzaghe or Dorin anytime soon. There is not enough demand from the public. He think that Bute, like Kessler, will be around long after Calzaghe has retired. He says Bute-Kessler would be a mega-fight, in 2 to 3 years. At the end of the article Majesky says that after seeing Montreal fighters getting robbed in Germany and the States (Lucas and Dorin), Interbox will not make the same mistakes and will make sure Bute fights in places where he can get a fair decision. PS. I know Maxime probably alrady posted this
[ At the end of the article Majesky says that after seeing Montreal fighters getting robbed in Germany and the States (Lucas and Dorin), Interbox will not make the same mistakes and will make sure Bute fights in places where he can get a fair decision. Where then? You cannot possibly rule out fighting in the USA at this stage just cuz someone gets robbed there. Germany though, fair enough...
He didn't say not fighting in the states. I think waht he meant is that since there are alot of robberies there, if Bute were to take a fight in the states it would have to be under a setting where he cannot be robbed. What you have to understand is that Bute was fighting for a paper title (we all know the IBF title is the most worthless at SMW) against a nobody (Berrio) in Montreal. It was his first title fight ever and he still attracted 15000 fans and made 200000$. Interbox is not begging to fight in the states, for sure.
Bute's a young kid making his name - keep it cute for a while and make sure that eye doesn't get bashed up!
The swelling under the right eye was the result of 1 single punch, probably made it worst because of the Reyes Gloves. I don't see it become a problem.:nono
Like Alcine,Bute is irrelevant other than in Montreal in terms of big fight competition and big time money.:deal
This is undisputed, however it is fighters such as De la Hoya,Calzaghe and Wlad who generate press coverage to keep the sport alive and which generates millions in box office revenues.A double edged sword,to be sure, but a necessary one.:good
To be fair, Alcine is extremely hard to market, he's black, haitian, not a hip-hop gangster, barely speaks english, not flashy, etc. He doesn't fit into any of the popular stereotypes Bute is in only his 21st bout and only 4th year so considering that I think in a few years if he keeps winning he will generate money even in the states
