The trouble with the stieglitz/miranda winner is that Stieglitz is crap. He was beaten by Andrade and Berrio, both of whom Bute beat. To those who already discount those wins, Stieglitz adds nothing. If it's Miranda, then it could be a passable match. Miranda only lost to Pavlik, Abraham and Ward, so Bute could make a statement by beating him more comprehensively than the others did, but the outcome itself is not in question.
Well, if there's a catchweight then there's no title fight. Also, pascal just moved up to LHW. This fight makes the most sense, and is the only option for bute. Both are montreal based fighters so it would be massive and on HBO WCB. I bet we see bute/pascal for the WBC 175 crown instead of dawson/pascal.
Is this place totally bonkers? Why is it that the only viable alternative to moving up to challenge Dawson is to take a Green or Miranda? There's a whole grey area at 168 chock full of credible contenders between the Super Six participants and third-tier guys like those. Inkin, Balzsay, unification with Stieglitz (after he beats Miranda), even Sartison... Hell, guys like Stevens, Mendy and Oganov are every bit the threat Miranda and Green are (which isn't saying much). How easily people are swayed by TV exposure and the constant bandying of names online by niche fan groups, thinking that somehow translates to class. Bute vs. either would be a worse mismatch than Teddy Atlas has ever called in his broadcast career.
you are right. Balszay and Inkin are available. Both the Hungarian and the Russia are worthy of Bute's steel:good
Inkin lost to Balzsay. Balzsay lost to Stieglitz. Stieglitz and Tsypko, they both lost to Andrade. Stieglitz also lost to Berrio. I'm not saying there aren't good matchups to be found there, but those who already discount Bute's wins against Andrade and Berrio won't be impressed by those who lost to them.
Not a big worry. People who go strictly by A>B>C logic don't understand boxing and nobody cares about or takes their opinion seriously.
If Miranda gets by Stieglitz and picks up the belt, I am sure it wouldnt take much for him to take on Bute. I think there would be enough money to go around for both of them. And like someone else said, unifying the belts is never a bad thing. As far as Allan Green... I dont see it happening. Didnt Allan already turn down a chance to fight Bute? Green has a bad habit from finding excuses to stay out of big fights.
He is still campagning at 160. And with the possibility of Pavlik leaving for 168 soon, it opens up the WBC and WBO strap for Jacobs who's ranked no.5 by the WBO.
Bute needs to stay at 168 and wait for the super 6 to finish In the mean time he'll need 4 fights (inbetween him and the winner of the 6) 1) EDIT Denis Inkin 2) Stieglitz/Miranda - unify the titles 3) Allan Green 4) Dimitri Sartison - to become linear (IBF, WBO, 1/2WBA) 5) winner of super 6
