But we can already predict that's gonna be a pretty easy UD for Bute. But without any others alternatives, it could still work but they won't get more than 6000-7000 tickets sold for that fight.
But if HBO says that Pavlik has to fight Bute, won't they accept it? If not, HBO would drop them et they would lose a fairly important amount of money...
What I was going to say. What are your thoughts on this as a possible match-up Maxime? Seems like a it would be a huge fight over in Canada, Pascal gave Froch a good-fight and his stock has improved as a result of that performance and obviously moving up to beat Diaconu and take the WBC belt. If he comes through the rematch, which I think he should, it could provide another title in another division, or possibly Pascal could return to 168 or fight at a catchweight. Bute beat Bika back in 2007, I have no interest in seeing a rematch when Bute won pretty comfortably. Yes you could argue Bika has improved since then, but so has Bute. It would be a similarly one-sided affair. It's not that though IB, it's the fact that Bute will be looking for bigger fights than the likes of Inkin, Balzsay and Sartison. Given Inkin fell victim to Balzsay, in turn to Stieglitz and Sartison was beaten easily by Kessler and hasn't done much since, they aren't really 'names' as such.
I really hope Miranda wins in January and then Bute-Miranda is the next logical fight being made in April or so...
Bika again? I'd put Pavlik instead. I heard there's some talk about Pavlik fighting Bute at the MSG this spring with Andrade-Bika on the undercard.
On a personal level, I'd have no problem Bute taking a unification fight with Stieglitz, It's a logical fight but as for the rest, Inkin, Balzsay and the other's I'm less than excited about any of those fights coming off.
You're right, Miranda and Green both have bigger 'names'. I just don't really like rewarding someone having a 'name' (because they've had some prior TV exposure) by letting them cut in line for an opportunity ahead of a better and higher org ranked opponent on the sole basis of their 'name'. Looking now, as of 11/23 the IBF had Balzsay (7) ahead of Miranda (8...). Inexplicably, they have Green at 5. :blood
Bute took a comfortable 8-4/9-3 decision. Bika had his moments; Bute was always in control of the fight and never looked like losing. Bute has stepped up a gear since then, while Bika while having improved still has flaws that Bute would exploit. I think he'd win be a similar scoreline. I agree that guys with more TV exposure and perceived 'bigger names' shouldn't be able to cut in line and get a shot before those who may of earned it more, however I'm just looking at it from his point of view. A win over somebody like Allan Green at this point would increase his exposure more than a win over Inkin probably would.
Hey if he can KO Andrade, you won't find me doubting his ability to put anybody away (when motivated) from here on out. And neither Edison nor Allen takes the best punch. Not like an Andrade.
It's just a shame we have to wait for the winner of the Super Six to get it on with Bute, just out of interest, Who's your pick for the Super Six and how do you think Bute will fare against them?
