Bute's next opponent: Not that many options

I wouldn't be suprised if HBO didn't do a split feed with Bute-Green in Canada and Pavlik-Williams in New Jersey, then have the winners meet at 168, with the winner of that meeting Dawson at a catchweight. That really bypasses and potentially rivals the super six.

The short answer is "no."

 

I know neither one would be the sexiest fight in the world, but if they're in Montreal anyway - what about Sebastian Demers or Adonis Stevenson?

 

Brinkley is an exciting tough guy, but has little talent to speak of. He was lucky to escape with a win in his last fight. With his lack of speed or elusiveness, he'd get completely outclassed by Bute. For some unknown reason, he's been in the IBF rankings for a long time, and has moved up solely by virtue of not losing.

Stevens has a puncher's chance, but is short and slow. He's very similar to Jeff Lacy. Way back in the day, Lou DiBella called him and Jaidon Codrington "The Chincheckers" and tried to tout them as the next big things, until both got knocked out. Andre Dirrell beat Stevens in one of the most boring fights in the division's history, where Dirrell spent 10 rounds running backwards and occasionally potshotting, while Stevens spent 10 rounds moving forward and not throwing punches because he wasn't able to get anywhere near close enough to hitting him. He punches hard and has a good inside game, but someone like Bute could neutralize him by using movement and darting in and out pretty easily.

Really, i don't know why Lucian would lose his time with these...

 

The tournament is great however it does bad for the weight. Miranda a guy who would not normally get a title shot is getting one and against the weakest beltholder. Bute is given no true threat. Hopefully when the tournamnet is over Bute will unify with the winner. And during the tournament he should get the WBO so all 4 are unifyed

Demers is no better than Brinkley and Stevens IMO, but damn Stevenson looks good. He is not on Bute's level yet, but i think he can already compete and win against the likes of Stieglitz, Sartison, Inkin...

I loved to see Green stop backin out from good match-up! But i'm starting to understand him why he didn't fallow his big mouth and didn't fight Bute in the past!
