Well. I'm danish too and I must agree. Mads Larsen was a OK fighter that could have become good and Kessler is a good fighter that could have become great. Both wasted to much of their careers with Palle and I doubt either of them can elevate themselves to the next level. Larsen still needs to improve a bit to reach his former "OK" level and Kessler needs new input and more risk

I know Larsen too from back then. Imo. Bute is now slightly better than Larsen ever was.

Larsen at his best is the level of Baldomir, Adamek (Larsen is technically better, but has less spirit) and Bika. H2H in a p4p sense I actually think Larsen loses to all three perhaps except Bika. He was a good fighter without the added-value that makes a fighter win the bigger fights.

Larsen definitely showed improvements in his fight yesterday. He obviously got rid of some more of that ring rust he got from his long time off. Still his defense appears too sloppy. Especially right after he throws combos. It's as if he has to put his shoulders back in place afterwards, which leaves him right open for counter attacks. His punches looks decent and pretty heavy. If Mads continues the hard work in the gym in Germany he could actually have a decent shot against Bute. Most important IMO is that he tightens up his defense. That can be done before a Bute fight..no doubt!

I saw Larsen's fight with Cocco. He looked good, first stoppage in ages but the guy was a punching bag,not enough to tell how he will do with Bute. His power is not there, the basics are but it won't be enough.I favor Bute to stop him late or at least to win a wide UD.

Basically I agree. Its true that we can not really rate Mads Larsen's odds against Bute based on what we saw yesterday because Coccos punch output was non-existent. However, Larsens improvements in terms of moveability, workload were visible. Given that Larsen had a long time off boxing I assume there is room for further improvements. Something that one wouldn't normally say about a guy the age of 35 but because of Mads breake I think it will be the case. Alltogether I expect Larsen to come closer to Bute's level come fightnight, and that should give him a decent shot at winning. Actually more than a punchers chance.

larsen's a fair fighter. a better fighter than you would expect for a fighter who has a 51-2 record - but never tested himself on the world stage.

but i expect bute to win this.

good post. cocco's a former world kickboxing champion too - but the larsen fight showed what a world away boxing and kickboxing are. cocco really thought he would win this fight but he was terrible tbh.

I dont think Larsen has what it takes to beat Bute. Though he is a very unknown fighter to many, and unless Bute dominates him (which I dont think he will) he will get very little credit for the win.

i agree. and thats what makes this fight so ironic - becuase it should be kessler fighting bute and not larsen.

**starting a new thread on something i just heard about this....

Put Andrade against Froch and Taylor and we'll see what they can do against a relentless fighter with a granit jaw... Bute opponents are far better than those of Froch. Taylor only fought once against a shot Lacy so he didn't prove nothing at 168.
