We all know Heavyweights of this era most of them are fat, slow and some of them weak chinned, can Butterbean become a contender a journeyman or a simple bum. He went full ten rounds and trowing punches against a aged Larry Holmes but still impressive for a supposed out of shape fighter. Butterbean was fat but fast in His punches with a lot of strength to pressure fighters better than most of this era heavyweight that stand still while getting hammered by jabs all the fight. Discuss.
Here's what I'll say... Against Wilders first 25-30 opponents Butterbean would probably go undefeated and knock out almost everyone he faced
Bean was not in his prime either,he certainly was not in holmes shape he weighed closer to 350 and he was about a 280/300 pound fighter, his best years were mid 90's/late 90's.Peple could joke all they wan tBean had decent skills and speed his body type never allowed for him to be a legit pro boxer, but his power is legit and would be dangerous for anyone,i don't think he puts a dent in this era either, however I like his chances in the 70's to be a top 3 guy based on that era were smaller brawlers.
He lost to a 2-9 Lionel Rose Do the math Probably would lose to the past White Wolf that Wilder fought or even Malik Scott Butterbean was an entertainer and fun to watch but get real he wouldnt be top 25
