I've seen several Butterbean fantasy fight threads, but I've never seen this one.

How would a Butterbean - Liston fight unfold?

BTW - Butterbean - Patterson would be a serious matchup. Bean could knock Patterson out.

Liston via starching, and I seriously doubt he'd be able to KO Floyd as well, Butterbean has KO's but his quality doesn't is even worth noting a little bit.

Yeah, people need to remember how utterly atrocious Esch's opposition was. Any world class HW would knock him out. Hell, an ANCIENT Larry Holmes beat him, that's how bad he was.

If you recall, Ali really got in Big Bully's head and had him beaten before he even entered the ring. If there's one man to pull the same trick off, it's The Bean. Liston wants no part of a crazy man. Bean K.O. 1.

Mere big/tough talk would not intimidate Liston, Ali was a Master entering his prime.
Against Patterson MAYBE, due to his chin, but Petterson could run & dance circles around Bean.

Butterbean would have no serious shot against Liston.
Liston could take a shot but would easily outbox him, jab him silly & then own him up close. It would be a KO before too long.

Liston would destroy Bean in a couple of minutes. By the way, only 2 men ever KOd Patterson: Liston and Johanson. Ali TKOd him. Patterson would easily beat Bean.

Ah, Ingo (T)KO'd Patterson and, you could argue that Sonny (T)KO'd him as well. I know, he was rising and on a knee at ten in the first (or second, not sure) I'm just fed up with this 'out like a light, china chin nonsense' against Patterson.
Oh, and Butterbean against ANY ATG? Next thread please. :patsch

    Both Patterson-Liston fights were KOs.
Patterson was knocked down 21 times as champion. He holds the record.

Butterbean hit hard enough that he could connect and knock Patterson out.
I'm not saying he would, but he could.
I would not bet on Patterson in a Butterbean fight.

Butterbean never knocks out a champion. period.

Of course he hit like a mule but Bean (if he is lucky) is only catching a good fighter with his dynamite.. not a champion. Even by accident.

Ten out of ten for what Bean did at the level he was at but come on! King of the three rounders against any champion?

Leon Spinks wipes the floor with bean after a night on the town.

Patterson in his own words also "got up more then any other heavyweight champion." Yes Quarry decked him twice and most viewers still thought Floyd won both their bouts. Yes Ingemar decked him twice in their third go and Patterson still ko'd him. Bean could punch a little but had nothing of their power. Bean being mentioned as an opponent to Floyd is like comparing a local softball team vs the Yankee's in their best year.

Timmers I must disagree with you here. Bean could punch "a little"? Uh no, he was at least not far from the hardest punchers, a 10 in power. I would be surprised if Quarry or Ingo could ever have matched him in measurable force & impact. Except a shot like Ingo delivered might have at least equal effect if not seen, rolled with, etc...

Now the local softball team/Yankess comparison is way overstated.
But Bean has no where near the skills & endurance of a real champion.
Given his power at least Bean would have a puncher's chance against a lesser chinned champion like Floyd, but yeah, given his speed & skills not a very good chance.

A comparison of the Yankees to a great triple A team would be more apt.
Any given day they would have some shot, but not a very good one.
Or a top College team compared to a dominant pro team.

**** on this thread! It's an insult to ATG's.
