I was looking at the high top machomai's, but heard a few bad things about them. I don't want to go over $100, so any suggestions? Oh and I'm looking for a mid-hi top shoe that is light.
i bought adidas adistrike wrestling shoes for $50 and they feel pretty nice. pain in the ass to get on though. devon alexander was wearing red adidas tyrint iii's against urango, these ones: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Adidas-Tyrint-mens-wrestling-shoes/dp/B003BNFBRK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1278726126&sr=8-2[/ame] which are only 25-30
I have the machomai and they've been a really good shoe for me. The mids. Over a year now and are still holding up, just starting to get kinda thin on the back big toe. I spar regularly 3 times a week on heavy canvas too, so...any shoe will wear thru. In your price range. Time for new ones and going with the Adidas Adistar. My first pr were Adidas and they were really good for me and these get great reviews, so giving em a go. The Box Hog I've heard lots of good things about to and know a few people with them...and not as expensive Adistars. So i'd consider them. again in your price range.
Hows the lacing on the machomai? I usually tie my laces around my leg, so will that do the job? I have the box hogs, pretty decent shoe; leaves you a bit flatfooted though. I've had them for about 7 months and the grooves are starting to smooth out (less grip)
hmm. not sure. I don't tie em like that, but there is a fair enough bit of extra laces up front. But who knows. I've heard complaints about them and the lacing and w/e...but have had no probs, it's been a great shoe. Lots of support and mobility, light enough. They are a bit narrow if you have wide feet. I got mine one size larger because of it and it was perfect.
Ive had the old everlast ones, now disscountined. RJJ boots, these ones were too stiff for me and heavy. Currently using Everlast Michelin Hydrolast Lockdown Hi Boxing Boot http://store.titleboxing.com/everlast-lockdown-hi-boxing-boot.html I really like this boot and its only 130$ USD. The side zip is awsome and i dont have to relace the boots each time i want to use them. Highly recommended.
I still have my old pair of Everlast so i threw those on the scales also. Weight of these is the same as the Hydrolast. Heres the link to the old boots which have been disscontuined. http://store.titleboxing.com/titleboxingeverlastboxingshoes1.html
its not a heavy boot, the RJJ boot is a heavy boot. .7kg is nothing, 700grams, 350grams on each foot.
