I meant to say HW world title.

Now that I think about it, a lot of guys may have fought for titles at other weight classes with that many fights

I searched for Bryant Jennings + Smelling salts on one of the tubes, and I found nothing. Well, I found something, but that is not safe for work. In fact what I saw, and still seeing isn't safe anywhere.

But if you have a complete video of this knockdown, please send it to me on MSN Messenger. I think they upgraded the transfer rate to 120kbit/sec recently (But not byte, this is Messenger, not a Ray Bradbury Novel) so it should go FAST.

I have to look up the names, but it's easy to answer because there have been many top class boxers who never had a single am fight and most of them had their first titlefight before their 40th pro fight.

    edit: couple of examples...

Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. no amateur fights, first world title fight in his 19th fight (17-0-1) Won by KO4

Bernard Hopkins, first world title fight in his 24th fight (22-1) Lost by UD12

Kermit Cintron, first world title fight in his 25th fight (24-0) Lost by TKO5 against Antonio Margarito, who fought for his first world title in his 29th fight wich ended in a NC1. Margarito later lost that title to Paul Williams (UD12) who won the belt in his 33rd fight (32-0). None of them had an amateur career.

There are many known Mexican fighters without any am careers and in the ye olde days most pro boxers just came of the "streets". So having a world title fight before the 40 fight amateur/pro combo is pretty common.

    Jennings > Fury

But, that fact won't be confirmed in the ring because Jennings isn't a blown-up cruiser and because that fight wouldn't otherwise provide Fury with cash-out money.

Johnny Nelson only had 13 amateur fights (losing 10 of them) and was 15-5 when he challenged for his first world title. He lost his first three pro bouts as well.

Anthony Mundine is another. I think he only had 4 amateur fights and challenged for a world title in his 11th fight.

Marco Huck would be another. He had 15 amateur fights (although he was accomplished kickboxer) and challenged for a world title in his 20th pro fight.

How many fights did Jack McRubedoo (aka Hanzi Kwiek) have when he had his first world title shot? :think

Just check the names John L Sullivan, James J Corbett and James J Jeffries... the last 2 didn't even make it far past 20 in total :good
