Going strictly by the books, is Foremans championship victory over Frazier the best victory in boxing history?

A 2 round KO over the man that just defeated the previous champ, Muhammad Ali, in one of the most impressive performances ever.
And not just a two round KO, but 7 knockdowns. He took almost no damage, and made it look easy.

Is it the best victory ever?

It's a very good win at heavyweight for sure.

I'd say Muhammad beating George is wholly more impressive given the context.

Yeah I’d have to agree too. Overall that’s the best victory of all time.
But I thought I’d pose the question. Culturally, it’s two greats battling for the right to be he arch nemises of Ali. But by the books, it is a rediculously high caliber win.

We haven’t really seen anything like that before or since. Louis-Schmeling II probably being the closest.

A modern day equivalent would’ve been AJ or Wilder KOing Fury in 2 rounds right after his victory over Wlad.

Is it possible that the three best fights in boxing history were fought between the same three men?

Crazy that one could even make an argument for it.

You could make a case for it being the greatest heavyweight win of all time.

Nobody else, ever put away a top ten all time heavyweight, in such a dominant manner!

I disagree. The Ali of 1971 was under 30 years old, undefeated and tougher and more durable than pre-exile Ali. That was his prime.

42-1 betting underdog Buster Douglas win against the 37-0 undefeated, undisputed champion, Iron Mike Tyson is arguably the greatest hwt win ever. No catching the champion cold in the early rounds or surprise Hail Mary punch. It was a dominant once in a lifetime performance by Buster against a then seemingly unbeatable Tyson.

I've never been convinced Ali was tougher and more durable post exile. Ali was no longer the guy Cooper dropped 4 years earlier. Just because he didn't take punishment close to exile doesn't mean he couldn't. He simply didn't have to.
