If anybody wants to wash out the bitter aftertaste of Triller's sadistic gladiatorial spectacle with something that is both somewhat more and somewhat less 'real boxing'. Malignaggi on commentary, if that sways ya.

Sam Liera vs. Carl Jefferson, 5 rounds @ light heavyweight

 

For those just tuning in: Liera the shorter orthodox Latino fighter with the dad bod (also with his last name printed across his crotch); Jefferson the lean and lanky African-American southpaw.

 

Liera very awkward (stylistically kind of reminds me of Nick and Nate Diaz from the UFC, minus their work rate and being lefties), opened up a cut on Jefferson already.

 

10-9 Liera, rocked Jefferson a bunch of times in the last half-minute.

 

Oof, this one is third-last, still Jeff Chiffens vs. Desmond Green and then Isaiah Quiñones vs. Quartus Stitt left to come. This is a commitment to staying up probably well after midnight, if anybody wants to stick it out.

 

Wow! Jefferson with a needed comeback 10-8, caught Liera ducking lazily in range without his guard up and splashed him onto the canvas with a right upper-hook after Liera had dominated the first two minutes and gotten complacent (or gassed).

Liera KO3 Jefferson, opened up on him and dropped him with some heavy grazing overhands.

More worrying for Jefferson than any neurological effects (since nothing landed all that flush to rattle his brain) is the cuts, which got considerably worsened - a gash above his left eye and one below, swelling around the whole thing.

 

Al Bernstein and Claudia Trejos are involved, too? So is this just what all the Showtime crew fall back on to moonlight when times are lean?

 

Either here in General or in the MMA subforum are the places it gets discussed, if anywhere. Both are...reasonably appropriate, I guess?
