Povetkin will outwork him and rough him up winning by UD

how could anyone discount Byrd, who is the most awkward heavyweight to come around in years, on top of that, Povetkin has only 13 pro fights.

Even through Byrd is older, he has the skills to beat just about anyone...he will make Povetkin miss, make him look stupid......with that said im picking Povetkin by UD

He will hit Povetkin with his counters too. With that being said I still think Povetkin wins by UD or late TKO.

    I put $100 V-Dollars on Byrd just because the odds were so good..............and another $20 on a draw @ 18:1 payout :D

byrd is also getting on a bit and while might klook in good shape compared to povetkin, povetkin will throw more punches /show more desire and will to win than byrd , who i am guessing will play rope a dope/cagy counterpunching fight , not being able to stand ring center and trade and slip an agressive fighter over a long fight anymore.

I'm staying away from this one betting-wise, but if I where to make a stake it would be Over-12.

i saw odds yesterday on a british betting website making povetkin 8 to 1 on favourite and byrd 4-1 against.

its a harder fight than they give odds on.

I may stand alone, but so be it.

Byrd is too skilled, experienced, and slick to be beaten by Povetkin. Its too much, too soon for someone with Povetkin's limited pro career.

    Byrd by decision.

Byrd coming in shape, and a good open work out on Tues, caused the Over Under to narrow some. Makes it seem a little more likely that it will go the distance.

I like those odds on the fight not lasting twelve....but I chalk that up to day of fight excitement. Gotta stick with my more sane outlook that I have been saying all month. Povetkin by wide, wide UD.

Too much of a work rate, too technically sound, underrated power and aggressive. I think his stamina is just fine too. He might be a little more cautious because its twelve, he also might want to stamp out Byrd and try and take his opponent out. Even a mid to late round KO would put an exclamation point on his victory. If Byrd opens up, Sasha goes for the KO.

Byrd has got pro experience, esp, experience at twelve, and I really believe, from his appearance, that he's showing up to make a show of it, and I believe that he fought the completely wrong fight against WK. It is not easy to knock out Chris Byrd. Not even in 2007. I am fully expecting him to fight almost completely defensively, and look for counter punching openings and, if a flurry or combo changes momentum, try and capitalize on it.

But if Povetkin wins by KO, Povetkin won't get the credit he deserves. Which is a joke, because I have not read any of these Sunday posters who are loudly saying Byrd will be KO'd.

Fight is coming on after all the other ones right? I don't think it will start until 5 or so eastern. But the televised card will start earlier, where people are lucky enough to have it shown. I am American and US t.v. does not give a rats ass about most boxing and especially Euro heavies.

You may be right. My question is why are the views on this fight so wide (aside from the usual haters & huggers)? There are always differing opinions, but often a consensus (close UD or SD) even in a closely matched fight. Here people are forecasting anything from a Byrd UD to a Povetkin KO :think It must boil down to speculating on what CB has left vs the inexperience/potential of AP.

Good analysis in #9 Langford. I voted for AP UD. Agree with your last sentence too. Why do you think that the US media does not care for Euro HWs?

In his prime Byrd may well have beaten Povetkin. Just lately he has not been showing the same skills he once had. Can he get it back? Seems like a long shot to me.

This is one fight I am very interested in seeing. I assume it will not be televised anywhere? Anyone have any sopcast info?

A potential rising HW star vs. an ex-HW belt holder.

This will be interesting to see, and will give us better insight on how good or how much potential Povetkin actually has.

He had problems with and old and worn out Larry Donald. Did Povetkin learn anything from the experience? We find that out today.
