Maybe his problem is that he believes in a mythical creature named "god" and has a stupid wife. Perhaps he should step back and examine why a mythical creature who runs his life would be stupid enough to let him lose 40 pounds and fight and get his royal ass kicked.

Byrd not ready to call it a career

    • Nearly a week after the most shocking loss of his career, Chris Byrd still isn’t ready to walk away from boxing.

The two-time former heavyweight belt holder may never step inside a ring again, but he’s not ready to make any decisions in light of the unexpectedly one-sided loss he suffered Friday in his light heavyweight debut to unheralded Shaun George.
“My wife (Tracy) gave me some really good advice and told me I shouldn’t make any decisions now,” said the spiritual Byrd, who has lost three of his last four fights and seemingly has no hope of landing a big fight again.
“I’m going to pray on it and let the Lord tell me. He never talks to me audibly, but he has a way of letting me know what he wants me to do.”

I'd like to see Byrd as a play by play guy, I say they replace Steward with Byrd. Chris knows his fights, and is a student of the game.

But as far as fighting, I can see Byrd wanting to go out with a win.
(Tho from a fan's standpoint I say retire Byrd you have nothing to prove)

i believe this was true more or less. there was somthing about george being a cruieserwieght and both teams wanted to the fight ranked as a light heavywieght fight. reason being so that george could be ranked as a light heavy and byrd actually hit 174 for facts and statistics so both came in light as possible...thing is george has been making wieght limits most of his career...byrd hasnt. he forgot about making wieght ages ago. getting fit is one thing but to wiegh a certain poundage is different.

Byrd isn't going to be satisfied until he has to carry his address around on a card in his pocket.

yea Byrd literally CUT to 174 instead of cutting to like 180-185 and then losing water weight to weigh in. I think he hurt himself BIG TIME with that.

IMO the odds would have been in Byrd's favor. I remember when people thought Foreman was going to kill Jimmy Young. Byrd was winning every round when he got caught by Ike. Even then Byrd was up and wanting to continue. Tyson was a flash in the pan fighter. He was not the monster he was portrayed to be. The big difference between Tyson and Ike was, with Ike he was a monster and his demons were real. Ike was nuts, Tyson was just acting nuts because he was and is a spoiled brat.

Maybe he can lose another 40 lbs, get down to welterweight and beat Cotto. That would be big.

:rofl Tyson's career was 100 times better than crisp turd's, BTW Tyson would kill Turd, whose name shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence with Tyson.
