I have a question for Byrd fans and morons like Widdow Maker: If Chrissy is "natural" heavyweight then why is he dropping down to Lt. heavy? Also, why drop down to Lt. heavy when all Byrd had to do is lose 10 pounds and go to cruiser? Losing 10 pounds is a hell of a lot easier than losing 25 pounds. 1) At this stage of his career the probability of Chrissy Byrd losing at cruiser is greater than Lt. heavy 2) 168-175 is Byrd's natural weight range 3) Byrd is not a natural heavyweight 4) The most significant name on Wladimir Klitschko's resume is a small, blown up SMW/Lt. Heavyweight - Chris Byrd.
why the sad face? the guy couldn't even really land cleanly on him and byrd looked like he was just kinda going through the motions for the most part....
Definitely skinny legs, but I liked what I saw. I think he'll be able to be more assert at 175 and just let his hands go like he should.
I wish he would have started at 168 and moved on up the divisions to HW. He would have made much more money and would be much more recognized like RJJ. I saw the picture someone put up of him standing next to RJJ and another boxer and he looks horrible. Like a fat guy losing a large amount of weight and looking faded. He should have gone to the CW division instead. I believe he will beat C and B level, but he will have alot of trouble with the A list fighters.
Byrd should have never fought at HW ... he looks like he had gastoric bypass surgery. I know his natural weight is LHW but damn ... he doesn't look healthy ... Its weird seeing him this small ... I don't know how effective he could be ... I know his chin would stand up and his power would be evident. He's going to do good, but his window for a title is very small ...
The biggest potential problem for Byrd I see, if he remains gun-shy, as he has been trained to be by facing heavyweights, he will not get off first against the quicker guys at light-heavyweight
