You sound like a racist agains slick black boxers who would have cleaned up the division if only they had been a couple of inches taller and 20lb heavier

Byrd is not in the same class as Holmes

 

Holmes was no dummy either. Larry didn't take many rounds off, and knew which punch to throw and when. I can't see Byrd out smarting him.

Holmes blazing jab alone would win the fight, and he had a darn good right hand, the type South Paws would eat.

Byrd would have a hard time getting into range to land, and if he did get in close, Holmes was a pretty good infighter with an uppercut.

 

Neither was Snipes and neither was Shavers, and Holmes nearly saw his ass against them. While I'd have to agree that Holmes has the edge on pedigree if nothing else, Byrd was an excellent fighter in his own right, and I think that he'd be an interesting stylistic matchup for Holmes. I think he might well have a chance of the upset.
