Right. I think many are too quick to dismiss the outcome as Byrd being completely shot, when he was pretty lackluster, yes. But you gotta attribute the outcome, at least in part, to the great performance by George. It was not all Byrd's poor performance. George's stellar performance had somethign to do with it, as well.
agreed. You can't drop that much weight even over a period of months when so much of your weight is muscle mass. You're just going to be drained and sluggish which is why he was destroyed. HE doesn't have a future at heavy, cruiser or lhw. thanks for a great career.
I dont think we would even be talking Ali and Louis anymore, only Chris and hes era of dominance. :rofl
He should retire. Byrd was already slowing down before he moved to light heavyweight. He's what, 38 years old? He heavily relied on his great reflexes, which were slowing. Moving down in weight at his age, and facing quicker fighters, just made it worse. The bad thing is that despite him (or was it his wife?) saying he's retired, there was also a statement talking about his shoulder injury taking place early in the fight and preventing him from performing. Sounds like an excuse for the loss and a reason for yet another fighter to fight on too long.
You can lay the blame of any debate that comes of this on Lennox Lewis. He cries his ass off when Bowe does it to him, then he turns around and does the same thing to Byrd.
