Headlining the historic all-female card on Netflix on July eleventh. 10 rounds of two minutes apiece scheduled at super lightweight, for the IBF, IBO, WBA WBO, WBC, and Ring magazine/lineal titles - second defense of each by Taylor. We're just over a week out, and to my knowledge there has been no announcement of the officials for this bout. I sincerely hope their number doesn't include Guido Cavalleri, Glenn Feldman, Jeremy Hayes, Nathan Palmer, nor Jesse Reyes. These are the five men that collectively awarded Taylor an SD and UD in the first two meetings between these women. For that matter, let's tack on Victor Loughlin, Allen Nace and John Poturaj who likewise scored very generously in the Irishwoman's favor against Delfine Persoon. (the rematch was a UD, but the other two cards were at least appropriately close; Loughlin's alone was absurdly wide). At the risk of sounding like a hater, Taylor really ought to count herself lucky that her pro record is 24-1 and not 20-5. Hell, you could make a case for 18-7. I'm not calling Jonas or Cameron II robberies - but they could have swung the other way and still not been called robberies against Taylor, let's just say. I've got to hand it to Jake Paul, this entire card top down is a pretty awesome showcase of women's boxing. And better yet it manages to be so while leaving Claressa Shields completely frozen out.
They are trying desperately to buy Serrano a win over Taylor. I hope that old Katie still has enough left to beat her again.
She didn't beat her the first two times, I doubt she'll beat her a third. It's sickening the amount of pull Eddie Hearn has, to rob an American in her own country not once but twice. But it shouldn't shock anyone, considering that mumble mouth sexless bore has her Big Daddy Warbucks to buy her win after win, she's had 4, arguably 5 gifts in total. Both of the Persoon matches, both of the Serrano matches and a gift in the Cameron rematch. Hell, even the Jonas match was too close for comfort.
For me the two min rounds makes the close fights harder to score I could see a case for either winning. I assumed that Jake Paul had the pull last time seeing it was on his show. I prefer Katie to most of the other female boxers as she got to where she is based off boxing alone not running her mouth like the arrogant Shields and I dislike Serrano due to her association with Jake Paul who I find insufferable.
I have no love for Jake Paul, still... Amanda Serrano seems like a sweetheart and has never done anything to annoy me all that greatly, at least not enough to ignore not one but two robberies. A robbery is a robbery, one can't be incense by one and ignore another. Neither of the fights were all that hard to score, in spite of the 2 minute rounds, Serrano clearly did enough to edge them on both activity and harder punches.
I only watched them both the once live and was cheering for Taylor I thought both fights were close but Serrano won a couple rounds big. Maybe you are right as I find women's fights harder to score based on the time limit and less skill but I thought they were close and could've gone either way. I don't like robberies at all I even hated seeing Maxi Hughes get robbed against my man Kambosos. I feel Jake Paul is trying to do his best to get Serrano a win over Taylor so he can say he promotes the real GWOAT.
Yep, exactly - having Taylor down as 0-7 against Cameron/Persoon/Serrano/Jonas is every bit as reasonable (perhaps more than) seeing her up 7-0. Realistically probably somewhere in the range of between 1-6 and 2-4-1 is fair.
The Hughes robbery was one of the most appalling robberies I've seen in recent years. You'd have to be a heartless sociopath to be unfazed by that. As far as Jake Paul goes, look at it this way, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I felt Taylor beat Serrano twice for what it's worth. And I never understood what all the fuss was about in regards to people crying about a robbery. The commentators for the 2nd fight between Taylor/Serrano were totally unprofessional/bias and created a false narrative to give casuals an excuse to cry robbery on social media. Here's my scorecards for both fights. Taylor vs Serrano 1 1 Taylor 2 Taylor 3 Taylor 4 Serrano 5 Serrano 6 Serrano 7 Serrano 8 Taylor 9 Taylor 10 Taylor Taylor 96-94 Taylor vs Serrano 2 1 Serrano 2 Taylor 3 Serrano 4 Serrano 5 Taylor 6 Taylor 7 Serrano 8 9-9 9 Taylor 10 Taylor 95-94 Taylor
It really isn't. Taylor won both fights vs Serrano legitimately yes Serrano had bigger rounds but Taylor won more rounds overall. I don't see any argument for Serrano winning the 1st fight vs Taylor she took her foot off the gas in the later rounds and Taylor dug deep winning the last 3 rounds to win a close but clear decision. Persoon probably deserved to edge Taylor in their 1st meeting. But Taylor certainly did better in the rematch and was a deserved winner. Jonas fight was close but most felt Taylor deserved to edge it. Taylor legitmately lost the 1st fight to Cameron but deserved to win the rematch. So I don't agree with your opinion of 1-6 or 2-4. It's more like 4-3 or 5-2 in favour of Taylor.
