César Miguel Barrionuevo born 02-28-89 is a Welterweight with a 33-3-2 22 KO's record. Born in Catamarca, Argentina and fighting out of Salta, Argentina. Not everyone in the sport especially in several Latin American countries have the benefit of a long and highly educational amateur career, often times they're just tossed in the ring and forced to learn on the job, usually even if they have one, its very brief, which is the case with most Argentine fighters. With Barrionuevo is record is very deceiving, for he has been learning on the job, and has become one of the overall better looking fighters in Argentina to come along in quite some time, I'm not saying he'll come to the US and blast Spence out of the ring in 2, but don't be shocked if he ends up being one of these guys like Matthysse, who shows up and gives the name American fighter everything he can handle and more, ends up winning on most fans scorecards and takes an L regardless, or maybe perform like a Chaves and push a guy to the brink before being stopped late. César who is a southpaw, or zurdo which is another nickname of his, 2 of his losses and both of his draws came in his first 7 matches, when he was around 21, not saying they should be discounted, but sometimes the judging can be questionable, and they were to fellow Argentine undefeated fighters, his more recent loss came in 2013 and was against Ramon de la Cruz Sena, who he had a trilogy with, winning 2 of the 3, this happens frequently in Argentina, and for the record the scores were ridiculously close on 2 of the scorecards, it could have gone either way. Anyway, he was signed by super prospector/manager/promoter Sampson Lewkowicz, the guy that discovered Maravilla and Pacman, back in early 2017, because evidently he sees the same potential in Barrionuevo that I do. He's tricky, at times awkward, as with most southpaws, can fight aggressively on the font foot, and box well off the backfoot and play the role of the counter when he needs to, oh, he's also reall heavy handed, maybe not Matthysse heavy handed, but close, some of his KO's are vicious, and they're sneaky KO's that many of his opponents never see coming, usually of the southpaw hook one punch variety. When he hurts you, you usually go down, or stay hurt. So while he may not be a future ATG or a world beater, he's entertaining, talented, and could easily pull an upset here and there, don't say you weren't warned. Time for Barrionuevo's coming out party this Saturday!!!!! Barrionuevo will savagely KO Ugas on the Porter-Garcia undercard.
For me, the only more beautiful sight in boxing other than an Argentine fighter wearing the colours of their countries flag on their shorts are seeing Roid Jones laid out cold on the canvas as stiff as a board and Seniesa Estrada's pretty face.
