    C Froch vs H Wharton

I always felt Wharton was a fighter who could have gone further. Wharton beat Nardiello who went on to become a SMW world champ and gave Benn, Eubank and Reid tough fights.

    So Froch/Wharton who wins?

Both have good chins, both can punch a bit, but I think Wharton was a bit better.

    So who do you have?

Only comment if you remember Wharton please

I think so. You could imagine both taking big shots.
Who do you think would take it? I think Wharton, to me he was one of those fighters that had tough asks. Benn and Eubank. Tough fights where he didnt shame himself.

Certainly dident shame himself, a very good fighter, though i have to say a good long powerfull jab caused him problems, i would have to go Froch close decision in a good fight.

    Interesting.
I think it would be a tough fight, but fancy Whartons greater pressure and workrate.
    Tough fight.

Im surprised Wharton isnt remembered so much

He was really unlucky to be at that weight at that time.

Wharton was tough. When he beat Nardiello he was out boxed for the first few rounds then went to war , roughing him up and intimidating him. Benn and Eubank both beat him comfortably, they were not overly stretched. Thy realised early they were not going to stop him and just beat him without putting their foot to the floor. Froch is up there with Benn and Eubank , no one Henry beat would have done any better against Carl. Carl has more variety, he would win a war or a boxing match with Wharton.

I seem to recall Wharton having Benn in trouble.
I think Wharton was a bit faster than Froch and a war would look certain.

I cant see Froch up there with Benn or Eubank. Not close to me. I like Froch, but he hasnt beaten a SMW champ or top SMW. Eubank has a very good resume at SMW. One thing about Froch though is how much he has travelled in title fights. He deserves massive credit for it. But up there with Eubank and Benn, No chance

He was. I wonder if he had of been taken to another route to a world title maybe against F Liles or the short time S Little was champ.
I would have favoured Liles to beat him also.
As you say it was a tough time

Wharton had slow feet. I don't recall Benn being in trouble But it's been a while. Wharton also drew with Lou Gent. To say he would be a champ today is a stretch. Ward , Dirrell, Kessler would beat him. I think he would be today exactly what he was, a decent, solid, tough contender who would not beat the champs. I think Froch would beat him the same way he beat Abraham. Or if he chose In a tear up. Froch hit hard enough to hurt Benn and has a good enough work rate to threaten Eubank. His chin survives both. His resume matches nicely too.

Froch would stand no chance of going 12 rounds with Eubank or Benn - none at all.

Wharton was dominate to a certain level. It was thought both Benn and Eubank would struggle with him, but both put in exceptional performances, to win well.

I suspect the same will apply with Froch. Wharton hated boxers (Slugger O'Toole for example), and I think Froch will eventually get on top after the early rounds, to win a comfortable decision 8/4ish.

:blood You will have to explain that. I think both would be favoured to beat him, but I think it would be a struggle for both. And although I could see a knockdown, I see both Froch/Benn and Froch/Eubank going the distance four times out of five, no matter who wins.
