    Caballero on the other so-called champs in his division

    “Great champions are willing to fight great champions. I should not be victimized by the politics of boxing or the cowardice of other fighters. Why should I have problems feeding my family because I’m too good?”

    Lou DiBella on Gamboa blatantly ducking Caballero;

    “We never priced ourselves out of a Gamboa fight,..In fact, in our preliminary discussions I asked for the same amount of money that I’m hearing Arum is offering to other fighters. There is a big difference between Celestino Caballero, a pound for pound fighter, and Elio Rojas.”

    Official list of fighters who have blatantly ducked Caballero;

    Israel Vazquez
    Juan Manuel Lopez
    Yuriorkis Gamboa

    I don't blame these guys personally, it's just a shame that boxing politics can work to shut out a good fighter.

    We never know what goes behind the doors, but if Caballero's team fail to secure any of those fights with names like those. Sometimes you have to sacrifice esp. with demands, don't blame others, but your team for being selfish. That's the reality of it. You fail to secure a fight with those names listed, then get yourself a new team.

    The funny thing is, Caballero is quite obviously inferior to JuanMa and Gamboa. Both would knock him out quite easily, I think.

    You do know that your post is bull**** don't you? Vazquez happily gave up his belt in order to avoid Caballero. They made a ridiculously low offer for him to fight JuanMa. Now they're rejecting offers from Cab to fight Gamboa, and accepting the same offers to fight guys like Rojas. Does this guy have to fight for free? It's pretty obivious that he's a victim of the flawed politics involved in boxing. It's pretty sad when fans blame him for not accepting low ball offers that were made with the intention of not being accepted.

    Trust me, if that were the case, then Gamboa would be fighting Cab right about now. HBO pushed for the fight and Arum rejected it only to offer Rojas the same money Cab was willing to accept.

    This absolutley ****in stinks , how does Bob Arum sleep at night the old ******* , i feel for Caballero man , if he can make the jump id like to see him do what Williams had to do to get some decent paydays , the SFW division is currently **** poor there has to be an alphabet for Caba in there enhancing the rep !!!!

    Id still love to see Caba Juanma , he blatantly ducked him blatantly !!!!!!!!

    It's getting to be pathetic. This is the sort of nonsense that really mars the integrity of the sport we all love. No reasonable person is going to completely ignore the economic aspect of matchmaking, but at a certain point one has to recognize the rejection for what it is: a blatant ducking. Of course, this is all contingent upon the Caballero side being truthful in their accusations, but they're crowing pretty loudly to be spewing complete falsehoods (one would hope).

    Caba has been ducked by the big dogs. I feel for him fights with Juanma, Gamboa should already be in the making.

    Gamboa yes, JuanMa hell now,............

    JuanMa is trying to ride out as much as he can in paydays and make as much as he can because when he is forced to go into a real bout, he will be exposed. Ala Naseem vs. MAB, Hatton vs. PAC

    Gamboa will use JuanMa to clean his *****.

    I agree, the fact that Arum is steering Juanma to Rafa Marquez after the Concepcion fight is shrewd matchmaking and very telling. While the younger Marquez is certainly a bigger name than Caballero, the fight isn't of the same magnitude given how far Marquez has fallen off.

    werent you just in another thread defending bradley for not fighting alexander basically? lol...

    Couldnt the VERY same thing you said in that thread apply here?

    That it will happen down the line so dont worry about it basically?

    :huh

    This is exactly what i was trying to get at.... (besides TB's double talk) is that a good fighter is not getting his chance when he deserves it, and a fight that should be getting made (i never thought id have to defend a fight between a number 1 and 2, and a unification fight) isnt happening.

    Now as for this thread, people will say relax, give it some time.... but the fact is that most of the fights for Gamboa, Juanma, and Caballero that should be happening, arent.

    But - hopefully this is just a slow process and not an impossible process. I understand they are going to build these, and if it happens when the fighters are still hot and the fight still matters, then its all good.... but sometimes these things need to said in the meantime.

    A good fighter (Caballero) is getting frozen out here

    I'm hoping to see Caballero against the top names. I'm not sold on him, really, and would like to see what he can do with a guy like Gamboa. I think Gamboa puts him to pieces, but he might be able to take Lopez.

    Kirk, you're wrong. There's a huge difference between the situations. First off, Caba is not a 23 year old fighter. He's 33, his time is almost up. Second, has Team Alexander made an offer to Bradley? No they have not. All they do is run their mouth and talk about how Bradley is ducking them and then they turn around and say they don't want to do the fight until the fall. A fight between Caba and JuanMa or Gamboa is not going to get any bigger than it is now. It's clear that Arum has no intention of putting his guys in therw with Caba. Otherwise, he wouldn't be making lowball offers and lying about Caba pricing himself out. Nothing resembling anything close to that is going on between Bradley and Alexander.

    As said no one knows what goes behind doors, unless if your part of one of those teams that represents any of these fighters, which I know your not. As I said why not take the supposedly low offer that was offer to face Juanma if your really confident, you know a victory will have def. open way more doors with way more success down the road, than over pricing yourself at times and now not securing any fights with big names. That's what I mean by sacrifice, this happens in boxing all the time, he wont be the first or last. We all know he is good, but honestly Caballero is very unknown when compare to any of those names. He has to work himself up the ladder.
